who hear has done a 4v cam swap and what type of power gains have you seen/ felt. and was it worth it for the money. I've heard that crower cams has a cam kit that uses stock valves so I want to lean that way (so I dont have to pull the heads) what do you guys think???

you can degree your stock cams, put lt's on tune it and put a tubular K member and run low 12's all day in a mach.

i have fr500 camshafts. their alright. they helped a lil. as for power increase i havent a clue cuz they were done when the motor was built with lower compression but it definitely didnt hurt. i will eventually go to custom grind tho or a stage 3 blower cams if i stay with the supercharger

advance them, but you need to find what the stock cams should at and go from there. You can prob get away with setting them like 2 * advanced. but they may not be even to begin with.

unless you really go with custom grinds with a FI setup or a high HP NA setup on these engines.. No one really changes cams because they dont usually do much for the 4v(specially from a cost effective standpoint).. A few terminator guys are actually running '97 cams(or 98) because they are supposed to be the most aggressive from the factory.

Listen to duff... LTs,tube K, and a nice ass tune will do you good man..

To the OP:
Stock centerline for all 4 camshafts is 114 degrees.
Advancing the intake cams 4 degrees makes decent power in N/A applications.
Also, like was said, many people swap '96-'98 Cobra intake cams, they have more duration from the factory than the Mach/Termi/MM cams. Supposedly worth ~15 RWHP BTW.

shame u talking the 97 cams in a boosted setup? Like i said there are quite a few Termi guys that have them in thier engines..

If your talking the timing #s they gave up there.. i dont know.. need them to chime in on that one

Yep. I was just curious about the earlier cobra intake cams, 01 cobra heads and degree-ing them. I imagine they would be degreed differently for a boosted setup.

I have COMP cams in my cobra and I absolutely LOVE them.

I swapped them in while I was putting on 03 heads, so it really wasn't any extra hassle for me, since I had to pull the engine regardless. Also I found them at a steal so I couldn't say no.

Anyways, while I do not know how much power I picked up from the cams alone...with stock 03 heads, stock 01 intake, and COMP #106400 cams, my car laid down 326rwhp with my ONLY bolt-on being an o/r x-pipe.

I got my car into the 370-380rwhp range by adding bolt ons and I am absolutely in love with hard the car pulls...with 3.27s it pulls hard ALL the way to the fuel cut off @ 7100rpms and still trapped 113-114mph all day long with the crappy 3.27s, 18" saleen replicas, and stock shifter.

The sound of my car at idle AND wot makes it worth every single penny.
