I come from a different angle , I had the same thing happen on my first dyno tune from one of the biggest names in the business that worked at Ford. Same thing, built a nice motor and driving home it over heated, and same BS " not our fault"...
Then I found out the default setting for the tuners computer is FAN/OFF and I called them to check that they turned the fan back on and "yes of course we did"
then I asked what did they set the temp. to for the fan to come on at?
BINGO, "oops we forgot to turn the fan back on in the new program"
Thus began my many tear downs on motors just to have a look see because the only builder you can trust is Ford on a new crate motor.
Everyone else is a pirate.
