5.0 vs. 4.6

5.0 has,bbk cai,bbk tb, pro m maf, msd dist/coil, accel 8.8 wires, steeda tri-ax sts, eibach suspension.
4.6 has, cai, hurst 5 speed shifter, stainless mandrel bent exhaust, unsure of other mods.

did a run from 45-135 both started in 3rd gear.

who won

b. 4.6

well the 4.6 has MANDREL bent exhaust so with that said.....its def the 4.6

no mandrel bending adds 10 hp to the exhaust, so it would have to be the mandrel...

Im gonna say the 5.0 won...probably mostly because starting in 3rd gear at 45 is pretty far out of the powerband and the 5.0 has more low end torque so I would think the 4.6 would be more affected by the bad driving and starting out of the band.

Do you guys both have stock gearing?

I cant imagine starting a 45 mph roll in 3rd with stock gearing...Im pretty sure a lot of the 4.6s had 2.73s stock...I had 3.08s in my auto and could go 105 in the top of second gear for example

Gotcha either way, with 3.27s in 3rd gear and a 26 inch tire your going to get about 105 mph which means your wayyyy out of the powerband starting in 3rd at 35 mph.

if i lost a race i would post about it. but i did beat him. in 3rd we were neck and neck i hit 4th and pulled away. im waiting to run him him from dead stop. i think id lose that race but not by much. and paul i dont care option never crossed my mind... no the sun didnt go down before race ended lol. my car is shit looking and sounds like shit but its still quick i wont say its fast for being a stock motor because i have not ran the 1/4 and had proof of what it can do. until then its my 5.slow. justinschmidt- im unsure of my gears hes got 3.73. with an auto trans top of 2nd at 105mph seems a little crazy to me. but i have not owned a 4.6 so i couldnt say true or false.

everytime we have tried to race leaving work theres been to much traffick we just decided since speed zone goes from 35-45-55 down shift to 3rd and goe didnt even think of 2nd gear
