woooo now guys... i did not take any offense to pauls statement.. to each his own and i respect paul and other moderators...efi vs carb is a matter of preference and money and all around goal/place for the car....and efi does not mean that you have all those sensors....a simple race efi system that ive seen in the past ....well...the only thing run by efi computer/stand alone management on this particular car was simply the injectors, maf, and tp......dont think to hard....then you have the fuel stand alone...then you have the ignition system....so dont jump to conclude that efi means having all these sensors...thats my view of it..

Everyones getting off topic. He did ask if he should go carb or efi. He said he was going to efi. He simply wanted to know if a 5.0 wiring harness would work on his 351. And the correct answer is yes plug everything in and itll run. You will deffinately need to take it somewhere to get tuned or go with your aem managment system. build it dyno it run it and lemme know how it comes out i love the 5.8 swap and plan on doing one in my car as soon as the bank allows it.

my uncle wants me to build a 351 carb motor(he is big in the old muscle cars, i am too but he all over it) but i told him that it is a 94 gt, it came with efi im taking with that. it is like putting a sbc in a mustang. why would you do it. i know sbc are cheap to build the shit out of. But that is my opinion tho. love old carb motor but it is not in the future from me. only way is if i buy a bigger carb for my little 73 Vega or if i ever get my unlce to sell me his nova ss

"Carbs are dumb" - It's one thing to disagree, but not a "smart" comment. Carbs and EFI have their places and advantages over each other as it all depends on the application. If you got the bank account to support constantly retuning and upgrading EFI - have at it and I support anyone doing it. For people on a budget and looking to get all out power at the strip you cannot argue or say carbs are "dumb" without losing credibility.

last time i checked, everyone has a right to post a "dumb" comment once and a while. Just because your considered to be knowledgeable about something doesn't mean you have to dull and dead serious all day long. I think he was just messing with everyone anyway, less i took it wrong :dunno: EFI- If you want to drive the car on the street alot and get decent mileage. Carbd- if you want a drag car or a prostreet. If you go FI though, EFI is teh only way to roll.

it is also not that difficult to modify an existing pan, if you know what you are doing. i am in the process of building a Windsor at the moment, and my oil pan is a shitty old canton of a circle track motor i built a few years ago. A few hours with a welder, and some play doh to check clearances, and i got myself a nice pan. If you look in the canton or moroso catolog, they give you the required dimesions for the sn windsor swap pan.
