I'd like to put the bezel out of an 04 car in my 94 car so that I can have an in-dash navigation unit. Is this possible? It seems like there would be no reason why the bezel itself wouldn't fit. Might have to do some rearranging of the stuff behind it though.

Yes. It's been done plenty of times. Do some searching...especially on the corral. It's really straight forward though.

the dash internals are different so you need to cut/modify behind the bezel. and you'll need to rig up a way to hold the double din unit in place.

There's a how-to either in the How-to section or the Electrical section if I'm not mistaken.

also be sure to get the shifter bezel as they are different too. You will also need to figure something out with the buttons on the bottom. If you keep the switches you will need to do more cutting behind it but you can also just coer them.

He can keep his shifter bezel as long as he paints either one to match the other.

Have you done this already? I have seen pics of the old with the new and they do not line up right since the newer one sticks out about an inch or two further I thought.

I made sure to get the 2001 bezel because I wanted to continue to control my vents like I could with the 94. What youll need is 1) the bezel 2) the cage which will hold the head unit in place and 3) a mounting bracket for the outer cage to attach to. The area above the buttons had to be dremeled, but that was because of my after market unit. Factory head units with the original cage shouldnt need to be. My buttons currently do nothing, but my plan was to use two to control heated seats and the other to control after market lighting.

the fit on the sides looks like it is off and the textures don't match at all. The bottom piece is cheap to replace and ensure everything matches unless you like it to look like an add on. Theres 3 different colors/textures of black there.

I have been asked in PM about cutting the dash, since other write ups apparently claim that you have to. My installation was done 3 years ago, so Im not 100% sure on everything that was done to it. I will take pics with the bezel removed, as I have plans to mess back there (installing bluetooth), but I will not do it this weekend. I will revive this thread when such pics/info about my install becomes available.

The fit on the sides is off because the 01+ bezel is designed to fit an 01+ dash, thus the bezel sits lower, causing the lower portion of the AC panel to be exposed more. Because it sits lower, there are a few millimeters at the bottom that are lower than they should be. It can be dremeled out or shaved, but I chose not to. If the screw tabs on my center console werent cracked off, it would sit right, and possibly shift the bezel higher. But find me a factory replacement red console.

As for textures not matching, I hope youre not talking about mine. The dash, console, and shifter are originals. Only the bezel is different. I had already planned on painting the bezel since my old one was already painted. Yes, matching a grey bezel with a black shifter would look weird, but everything matches.

My cars kinda torn up right now, so I cant give you any good pictures, but heres some that kinda include the bezel:

right but for an extra $10 you can get the shifter bezel and kill 2 birds with one stone(the fitment and texture issues). After installing for years I am more carefull then many about making things look good and maybe you can drive around with some dash pieces that do not fit together all that well nor match, but now me and alot of others I know. The guy asked what to do and I still recomend replacing it just to make life easy.

I fit my doule din in by just cutting the stock bezel in the middle , and used the second compartment box to hold up the unit

I need a full write up of installing this double din without cutting up the stock dash...

Well then get ready to wait. No matter what you do you will need to trim the pieces off or the double din will never fit.

Jo you didn't have to cut the dash at all?
I did , but theres only the 2 lil tabs in the middle on each side ones once i removed them i cut the middle out of the bezel, mines still inthe works , i might try and make one out of fiberglass so i can have a perfect fit

well there seems to be a discrepancy because one is saying you don't have to cut anything and other people say you do, like I had originally thought.

There are two tabs that hold the outer dash in place on thd under dash. They must be trimmed or else the screen will NOT fit between them. I do not think anyone above has said they got away with out trimming them off. They are missing on the next dash style so they are not all that imporant and it will still be held in place by the retaining clips.
