Ok so i have heard a rumor and just wanted to confirm before i build a tranny and it dont fit... Are the cases for a 94/95 gt auto specific to a 94/95 cars? Or can i use any 5.0 aode or 4r70w case say a 98 explorer case? I am fixing to build a tranny but dont want to use the one i have in the car i want to havea second tranny and want to get it right the first time! Thanks dj

I'm pretty sure if it's in the aod family it'll work.. A lot of guys swap them for the 4r70w

Ok Cool i have kinda did a little research on it and im pretty sure even the 3.8 ones will work too infact i called ford with my vin and they told me my car had a 4r70w from the factory so i guess i will just try and find a decent core to have built

I had a V6 4R70W case with 94 GT guts in it when I rebuilt my transmission.

Only issue I had was I needed to drill out the valve body dowel holes to a slightly larger size.

the SUV/Truck transmissions should bolt up as long as they came off of a Windsor motor. you may need to swap the shifter linkage. I've only dealt with the 5.0 & 3.8 auto transmissions.

Look for a later 3.8 v6 stang transmission. SOmething out of a split port. You will need to change your torque converter solenoid even if leaving it all stock and rewire the mlps. I havent done one in almost 8 years but its simple. You will get a much better transmission with all the upgraded stuff inside. Dont start with any other transmission. if its an AODE with a SBF bellhousing it sucks. If you want a bolt in upgrade 94/95 thunderbird SC transmissions bolt right up. But if building a transmission start with the new edge 3.8 auto
