94-95 Cobra owners

What up everyone, I got my cobra taken apart pretty good, removed the tranny to replace my clutch and while I'm there I removed that smog line on the back of the heads, and the rest of the smog equipment besides the pump, I want to remove the pump so I can reroute the belt but I ran in to this problem a lil while back when I purchased the belt, the belt size fit perfect but the way the belt routes on the 94-95 cobra it interferes with the oil cooling lines on the 94-95 cobra models, I would appreciate if any one has any good insight on what I am talking about thanks again Sn95 Forum.

I got you. i had the same problemo. i ended up getting a crow bar and taping it in until i made a notch that cleared the belt. mine is close, but it clears. That tube is stronger than you think...

I haven't run into this problem but I used a delete pulley so i was able to keep the same belt size.

Just bend it in to clear the belt. You only need a 1/4" to clear. I used the flat end of the crowbar because its easier to bend it in. Its a pain, but it works.

I just deleted my oil cooler, waste of space pos. Plus without it you can run the much larger oil filter from the GTs.

Im not quite sure what you mean by it interfering. I removed my smog pump and got a shorter belt but it did hit on any part of my oil cooler when it was still on. although my AC compressor has been removed also without a pulley

Didnt know that. I have no delete pulleys. just got rid of my smog and all AC stuff and mine didnt have a problem

I wondrous though you might not have the clearance issues when you get rid of both the ac and smog. I got rid of smog only at the time and oil cooler line was just a tad bit in the way. Now I have no ac on new motor, but haven't gotten to the point of putting it in and hooking belt up.

I have a delete pulley for my smog pump. The AC is still in place but all that is coming out this spring. I think w/ both deleted you can run into belt issues as far as routing or belt size. With one deleted and the other running a pulley there should not be any issues.

Dude.. if you already have it on, then leave it. its a pain to remove it, and it helps your oil temps quite a bit. Just dent the tube in. If you really want to remove it, you will have to remove th water pump pulley, tubes, cooler, etc. Just leave it.

As for they guys that didn't have this problem... its because your not running A/C, and the belt routing doesn't effect the tube. If you run the A/C, but with no air pump, you will have to dent in the tube where its rubbing. my .02

You don't need to plug anything, just re route your heater hoses straight to the water pump. you will have to find a GT threaded insert for the block if you get rid of the cooler, or you can just leave the cooler on and leave the coolant openings in the cooler open.

Just go buy a smog pump delete pulley... You can find them on line cheap and you can use a stock belt...

This is incorrect, it's total cake to remove it. You unscrew the oil cooler from the block and screw on a GT oil filter. Buy a small coolant line and hook it up where the old coolant lines were and you're done. I've heard it should have been called a coolant heater more so than an oil cooler. I'm glad mine's gone, good riddance.
