YAY FOR TAX SEASON! Im gonna be getting around $2000 back from tax's and my pony needs some work! now its a mainly stock 94 gt! and i want it to make around 300 rwhp. Any suggestions?!
i already have a CAI, Flowmaster catback exhaust, and a set of Mac LT headers (headers haven't gone on yet). i need to change plugs wires and suspension which will take about maybe $1000 but what other mods can i do to get my pony to 300 RWHP, i was thinking 3.73 gears with my LT headers, O/r H pipe , and my exhaust and CAI will get me just about close to that?

so if you have $2000 and wanted your stock 94 gt to get 300HP what would you do? Vortech SC would be nice, but my engine has 140K miles so i was kinda hoping to rebuild it, so in that case ill just do new heads, cam and intake with an overhaul kit. and will make around 300 RWHP? gt40 heads with a stage 1 camshaft? cobra uper and lower intake?

Slow down..you are not going to make 300 HP so easily or fast....New heads are $1400-1800 plus installation....rebuilding old ones will also climb up in cost...used ones are a bit of a gamble, you may win or you might lose. Can you do ALL your own work, it doesn't sound like it so far...then just double the cost of a part for the labor to install.

What was a 94-95 Cobra rated at? With the GT40/Cobra heads intake & cam it was 240HP! 3:73 gears do not add HP....

I have seen Trick Flow combos retail for $2795 or so plus install & supporting mods so you have a ways to go....I guess you might get to Cobra specs if you do a good job but not 300HP.

I like that Powerdyne bd11a supercharger! first off i can do all my own work so i wont have to pay for that. and i know gears dont add HP but will still greatly add to my overall performance, but thats a good point about the cobras tho. i found a cobra intake and ported lower for $350 shipped that i think im gonna get, that mixed with the Powerdyne bd11a kit and my exhaust setup. ill be pretty damn quick! at that point yall are saying my weakest link would then be my heads?

Yeah. Exactly. I'd at least go for some gt40 if you can find them, a explorer/gt40/cobra intake, a decent cam and a good exhaust later on. The blower will definitely help. E7te stock heads don flow much air.

you say a decent cam, what would you say a decent cam is? i might now go blower and put the $1000 into suspension and cosmetics instead. im definitally gonna be getting a cobra upper and lower intake. so whats a good head and cam to go with it?

That's a good, albeit old, article about building an '89 5.0 up to 300hp with just bolt ons. It's by no means the only thing you should read about an engine build, but it shows you which parts net the biggest gains. My '94 GT is my first build ever, so I'm taking it slow and trying to keep it naturally aspirated until I learn the finer workings of doing an engine build. There are tons of spare parts out there you can get on the cheap to build these engines up--you won't ever be the fastest thing on the road, but it'll definitely be more fun to drive.

I would read around, visit a few different forums, and stay on top of craigslist and classifieds. I saw a set of GT-40p heads near me for $250 this morning. With the right know how and experience you can easily add 60-70hp to these motors for not a lot of money.

Also 3.73s were the best thing I ever did to my car. Just sayin'.

Just got my Cobra intakes today! Looks GORGEOUS! ;) ill be getting my gears in the next couple days, and then ill be getting a O/R H pipe as soon as i find a good deal for one. after that ill have a full exhaust with the 3.73 gears, CAI with the cobra upper and ported lower intake. with the CAI and the intakes, wont i be running really lean? will i need to get bigger injectors or at least tune the car to even things out? also i feel like ill be limited by my throttle body. any opinions?
