Hey guys I just joined the forums, but I was wondering if someone could help me diagnose a problem I have with my stang. For the past 3 weeks, my car engine has occasionally been dieing on me while I have been driving. The engine just cuts out, but everything to do with the power is totally fine.. I took it to a local shop, and they replaced my fuel filter and said, " I hope this fixes your problem"...Well it didn't. I have a feeling it has something to do with my fuel system/fuel pump. Every time after my engine has died now, I leave my key in the ignition and turn it so I can hear what i believe to be my fuel pump which makes a buzzing noise, but I do not crank it over. After leaving my key in for about a minute or so, the buzzing noise kicks back in for about 3 seconds and then i can fire my car right up...Would anyone have a clue as to what could be going wrong here? I would very much like to get this problem fixed, but I don't want to replace something and then have the same problem afterwards. Any advice would be much appreciated!!
I have a 94 GT 5.0l

Welcome to the site.
it could be 2 things
A fuel pump OR
The distributor is going out. (more specifically the PIP inside the Dizzy).
You can buy just the PIP for about $20 bucks. or a remanned Dizzy for about $120.
Both of these options have their drawbacks, replacing just the PIP requires Dizzy disassembly, and a remanned Dizzy has some quality issues.but at least there would be a warrenty with a remanned.

For the fuel pump you will need a fuel pressure gauge and for the PIP a DMM and instructions on how to test the circuit. The Haynes manual has the procedure.

you could just get someone to turn the ingnition to ON while you are at the back of the car and listen for the fuel pump to prime

That won't help if there is little or no pressure. You need to know if the pressure is within spec. Besides the OP said the pump makes a buzzing sound so I would think that means it's getting power.
