I got a tremec 3550 from a guy around me and it came with the lakewood scatter sheld. he didnt have the block plate or shift fork. i didnt complain becuase i got it really cheap. in order to run this bellhousing what do i need to do and can someone please point me in the right directions or should i just buy the tremec bell but i just read that you might need a blockplate for it too? also is the swap easy? what kinda problems am i going to run into?

call up d&d performance or bob hanlon. if i recall the 3550 used a SROD bell which might be different from the newer 500/600 bells that would be available. personally i wouldn't use the shield you have now unless you plan on launching the car at redline and on a sticky tire.

you need to have the blockplate or you will have to shim the starter as that is what it does on a manual car. serves to also provide enough front pump clearance on a automatic but thats not relevant in your situation. you can also get the plate from d&d or hanlon.

3550 is a great trans. i beat the snot out of one and had no issues putting a lot of power through it until i was making over 700. broke the input shaft in half once and trans was still fine after swapping the shaft lol
