Well if i remember correctly the 96 Cobras were rated 13.99, so call it 14.0 if you like. As for the GT... some people have trouble getting into the 14s.

If you have a GREAT driver in the Cobra and it has low gas and pulled spare/jack and is in EXCELLENT running order in good weather with good track prep they can go upper 13's ( 13.7 or so ) as for the Gt like said a LOT of guys had trouble breaking into the 14s :nonono:

wow i just thought 300 hp would do better than that. I know of a 02 gt that has exaust and runs high 13's and it has like 40 hp less.... why is this?

well i know that the 96 Cobra was in reality OVER rated from the factory, because they only made like 250-255rwhp so I imagine that is a contributing factor

NO SHIT !!! are you serious? I've seen a stock 2v put down more than that. Why would the 4v loose so much vs the 2v motors? I really really really don't understand... Why only 250 rwhp?

there have been a few articles on this, the 96 model and then the 97 and the 98 model.......power output increased generally as each year car hit the streets CONTRARY to them all having the 305hp rating at the flywheel. MM&FF had one that comes to mind right away about the 96 being in the 250 range and then the 98 model being in the upper 60's ( about where it should be for the 305 flywheel rating )

I guess as time went by FORD got the bugs worked out on the 4 valve and found the power as they got more experience with the factory 32v motor :dunno:

I heard that the 98 cams were more aggressive on the intake side than in 96 and 97... and i guess that could mean that in 96 it sucked , 97 it sucked with a tune, and then in 98 it sucked with some cams and a tune :)

Its just sad that the car would "make" 305 hp and only see around 250/260 at the wheel. I guess i should look at it this way though, my 98 gt auto probably only puts down about 180 at the tire so i cant say that 260 wouldn't feel that bad. shit, 20 more hp and i would have an even 100 hp seat of the pants upgrade :) , it just makes me feel bad that the 305 = 260 at the tire and the ls1 has like 320 and puts like 290/300 to the tire stock. Whats the problem? Is ford over rateing their motors where as the chevy guys are underrating?

LS1's with a lid and exhaust put down around 330. bolt-on and cam 400. Early model cobra had alot of problems (intake spacers) that the aftermaket can fix. A GT can go just as fast.

there are flaps under the intake. ford thought it would give better gas mileage but only killed power. Windstars have them as well and they mess up all the time.

Well the IMRC's actually help the motors. They do help with milage and keep the car running smooth at low rpms. I don't know about you but i've rode in a couple with the deletes and it drove like shit and didn't have any torque low end...unlike the 97 with the runners that i rode in. Plus i'm not going to be gunning the hell out of it and the 5hp i would see over 6k won't help if the car is going to be shifted at 6k ya know.

If i was to supercharge it or something to force the air into the motor then the delete kit would be great but i think that the 1st gen cobra motors have enough problems with velocity
