96 GT oil leak

My sisters 96 GT has been leaking a lot of oil. its coming from the oil filter casting (the thing the filter screws into). My dad called a technition and he said it was a "pressure releif", but couldnt tell us much more than that. why is oil coming from this pin size hole?

mine doesnt have that hole that i remember. i'd think the gasket between the filter housing & block would need replaced. you did check that the filter was good & tight didn't you?

yes the filter is on fine.

oil only come outs of the little hole on start-up and until the engine reaches operating temp. then it stops. but it does this every start up. it doesnt just drip, it squirts oil out of the hole

i'd just replace that piece then. or maybe take it off & have a look see at it. might find find the problem...
