Theres this cobra computer Im guying to buy because this guy is selling the computer and harness for $300 which is a good deal. From a 97 cobra, now as far as motor... where can I find a 97 4.6 dohc, is that the same in the lincoln mark vii and the continental. What are the differences? like whats flat tappets and roller and non roller blah blah blah. pretty much would the linoln mark vii fit in the mustang with a cobra wiring harness?

You don't need the computer or harness to swap a 32v into a GT.

Local boneyards usually have a Mark VIII or two, and no idea what the motor is worth.

I see complete Mark VIII's for 300-500. THey would require a rebuild for sure, but still. Hell I got an Aviator motor for like 5 or 6 hundred at half off day.

Yeah I should mention, I always pull my own motor's. If you want a cleaned, warrantied unit shipped to your door, that's alot more, lol.

The main difference between the Cobra and the Lincoln 4v is the crank. Cobra is forged with a 8 bolt flywheel. Lincoln is cast with a 6 bolt fly wheel. The Cobra is rated at 305 flywheel H.P. and the Lincoln is rated at 285 flywheel H.P.

You can find these engines on ebay. http://www.billfoxsautosales.com/ Bill Fox Auto Sales has them on the shelf. I know he does, I saw them there today.

Mark VIII cams are also slightly different, and the intake is different, unles it's a 97 Mark VIII. None of this will prevent bolt in compatability though.

I have a 6 banger. And I beleive its on its last leg pretty soon. I got it for $700 and I figure if I spend atleast another $3500 into it I'll have a reliable stang plus I don't plan on selling it for awhile. Getting my fr500's soon though!! Just got all my windows tinted, 5% in the back 15% in the front and 35% in the windshield

Well I plan on picking up a mark vii then for cheap off craigslist.

Wait wait wiat, back the truck up, your car is a V6? That makes things more complicated for a 32v Mark VIII swap. You would need a harness, Kmember, trans, computer....
Now for a 5.0 out of a Mark VII, you get to re-use alot of that.

Thats what Im saying. I found a harness/pcm/k-member from a cobra for like $350 and if I was to get a mark vii motor would it be the same, and its pretty much plug and play. But rigt now I got a 302 block/302 heads/upper and lower intake manifold for $140.

Block as in no pistons and rods or oil pan. Just block with crank and cam and timing chain. The only reason why I would even think of getting a 4.6 is because of the pcm is right there.

I mean, I've heard of painless wiring but where the hell could I find a pcm.
