2k including the cost of cams and new valve springs. and tax.

the 750 dollar tune u walk out the door with an X Cal 3........ then every redynotune is $100.

he won't blow the car......he doesn't understand he just won't make the power without it.

I've talked to him about doing the head swap, or atleast tried to. Without it, i don't think he'll hit 300

Yea MM&FF did an article on hitting 300 rwhp with the npi stuff... at the end they said to use the pi stuff lol. I don't think they hit it without stage 3 cams and a lot of porting on the npi heads and an intake.

Yeah they did it, with an intake designed by a Phd in engineering... I call shenanigan's on that one.

So let's see here, cams are 500-600, springs are 200, we're at 800, Xcal cost 350, 1150, dyno tuning is about 400, so 1500, the rest in labor, that makes sense, allthough you can get better deals. Where did they get the figure for PI cams though? And you don't need a tune,it can come later if need be. With a few nice cam's, you don't need spring's either.

At any rate, if there are two of you especially, why not do the labor yourself?

Soooo, your saying that they got a bone stock npi mustang with just the intake in the 300 rwhp range? thats what i was saying that they did all those things and bairly got there.

5.4l 2v PI swap.

best money and effort aside from FI you can invest into a mod powered car. (you can always do FI later  also)

have him pick up a 5.4l from a junkyard, $500ish for a rebuildable. or about $1k for a good runner. and swap over the bolt-ons he already has.

will it make 300rwhp? probably not. at least not in near stock form. but the torque jump over an equally powerfull 4.6l will more than make up for it in the "seat of the pants" dyno.
how about a 5.4 DOHC?

even better. the 2v is just a lil easier and cheaper.

No, they went in stages, cam's, exhaust, ported heads, a shortblock rebuild, and still couldn't crack 300 with the NPI intake, so the engineer designed an intake, then it shot to like 328. And it was designed for PI heads, so I really don't think it count's, lol.

I understand man, it's just that after all the money i spent on my car... i would have come out in the green by doing a supercharger :) but if you can't change his mine its ok... b/c hindsight is 20/20 as they say and you'll have the "i told you so" rights :pimp2: but anyway he goes its gonna be cool and if he is happy with it thats the main thing.

wanting to keep a modular na to get a certain power goal is one of the dumbest things to do when looking for high hp. all in all he culd get a vortch tuners kit and do a sniper to so he can tune it at home. i hope u told him chasing dyno numbers will get him nowhere so y waste the money when he can do it himself? i understand where he is, i felt the same bfore and i didnt hrdly have anything done. couple days later went and found my powerdyne got it for 700 and culdnt be happier with my investment

Powerdyne's are really unwanted, I'm not surprised. Nothing wrong with them, they just aren't as sexy as a Procharger or something.
