Havn't posted in a while, Been overseas. Anyways, Hey everyone.

I have a 1998 GT Automatic that is stock, save for a pair of dynamax mufflers.

I have the chance to get my hands on a '99 Cobra Engine and Transmission. For $3000.
Said Cobra is wreck with side damage, and the subframe is to wrecked to save. So the guy is parting it out.
I told him if i buy it i am going to take everything off the car in order for it to run in my GT. (Harness, Clutch pedal, Linkage, all the good stuff)
My question is, Does anyone have or can refer me to, or maybe type if you are gracious enough, a list of EVERYTHING i need to pull off this car in order for it to work in mine. I have searched and searched, but only found '98 GT to '98 cobra, or '98 to '03 swaps, no one seems to have anything on the '99s. From my understanding, a guide for a 98 to 01 swap wont work because the 99 and 01 cobra motors are two different things.

Any help would be appreciated, this is my first Modular venture, my past stangs were 5.0's and much, much easier.
Thanks

99 and 01 4vs are pretty much the same.

You can use the existing GT harness and computer to make things easier.
do a search on Modularfords.com about such swaps....

so the GT's harness and Computer will work for sure?

My GT has a returnless fuel system, from what i have read the 99-01 cobra's have a return style system, is this an issue? or simply a matter of switching rails and adding a return line, then updating the computer to do that?

I also have heard rumors that the PATS (Passive Anti Theft System) will not allows me to start the new engine unless i disable it.

any help?

from what i understand, the pats only will give you a problem when you change the computer to a new car... i think. Now i have a 98 also, does it have two lines connecting to the fuel rail? if so then it is a return. Mine has 2 but its still the bastard fuel pump and rail. So i don't think you will have a problem :dunno:

You need to swap fuel rails, use your GT computer (with a tune of course), and fab up a way to mount your coil pack's on the front of the new motor.

96-98 cobra front cover?

That will work.

OR, be totally different, and convert the coil packs to a COP (Coil on PLug setup)!!!

Theres a bunch of guys that have done it and dont seem to have any regrets. Seems fairly straight forward from the write ups that I have read.

well i got 8 coil on plugs for the gt but that probably won't help me out when it comes to the 4v swap... what all do you have to have to swap it? i got the coil and boots and the pi intake with the places to bolt them down at. What else is needed?
