Should slip right in place. Just be aware that its 1.5" or so, wider.
If you have a wheel combo that fits flush with your fenders, they will stick out after the swap.

^this. Also control arm bolts are larger on 99-04 so you'll have to account for that. When I installed my 98 cobra axle on my car I drilled out the axle housing where the lower ca's go to accommodate the larger bolts on my car

I'm running 17x8 with 1" spacers. So that shouldnt be an issue. What control arms should I run with?

You could leave on what you have just drill the control arm out for the larger bolt. That's the easiest way I can think of. Don't remember bolt size off hand tho...

Yeah, killin is right....all you really need to do is hoan out the sleeves where the bolts go through. Other than that, the only difference is the axle shafts them selvs as well as the axle tubes (about 1 5/8 longer per side). The mounting positions are about the same.

I just figured if I'm gonna throw a new axle in it. Then I'd spend the money on stronger control arms plus the new bushings. Would 99-04 fit? Otherwise I will just drill it out

Yes, the arms for 99-04 will fit, you will just need to use the 99-04 bolts, which you may or may not be able to get from the dealership (don't use ones from your local hardware store.). The other option you have is if you already have aftermarket CA's, hoan out the sleeves and use the 99-04 bolts. I am currently running a modified set of UPR upper and lowers, modified to fit my factory 04 bolts. I will be swapping them out eventually for a set of steeda or MM ones though.

You don't HAVE to use OEM bolts as long as they are grade 8 bolts you can get them from the hardware store.

True, you dont have to, however I personally dont trust something that is that vital to the car to anything other than the factory
