99 center console in 94?

I was wondering if I can directly swap a center console from a 99 GT into my 94 GT? (I don't like the ashtray style that my 94 has) or will there be some sort of complications.

it fits fine. You may need to extend the cig lighter wires thats all.

Just get the center console wiring at a junkyard it runs about $25 instead of mod the original wiring harness.

94-97 have the ashtray set up the AUX 12V by the ashtray.

98-04 have the cup holders and the AUX 12V by the arm rest.

I went from the 94 to the 98 and the wiring is a lot longer on the 98

I think reva is right Javi. I had to swap my harness into the new console. Thats why I have the 01 still.

no, you know what, there are 3 different version, both Javi and myself are correct.

94-95 have the ash tray between the shifter and the fog light/vert switches, and the single cup holder which extends from the center console.

i dont know if the 96-97 are the same as the 94-95 or the same as the 98-00 ones

98-00 no longer have an ash tray, instead they ford replaced the ash tray with "cup holders" which really only work on the automatics (in the manual trans cars, if you put anything in the 1st cup holder, the only useful one, you will hit it with the shifter when you go in 2nd, 4th, or rev. gears). the pop-out ash tray from the center console was removed.

01-04 are the same. they moved the cup holders farther back to avoid interference from the shifter. the fog light switch (along with the trac. control and rear defrost switch) got moved to right under the radio.

the only ones im not sure about are the 96/97 consoles, not sure which ones they got.

96-97 also has the cupholder extending from the center console and the ashtray/fog lamp switches as you describe them. Just wanted to add that for anyone who looks this up in the future.

So... 94-97 has same console

Right the third type is the one where they moved the Fog light swtich,Traction and Rear defrost.

Therefore there is 3 of them :dancing6:

The only problem is that the colors won't match if you have the 94-98 true black interior...in 99 they switched to Dark Charcoal...close but not the same. I didn't want to go through the hassle of painting the newer consoles so I put in a 98 console I like having cupholders & am learning to deal with the shifter/cup interference. I use tht cup holders for other things too...so far I am glad I did it.
