So I know this guy who has a 99 F-150 for sale. It's been sitting at his shop for about 6 months now and the last time I was down that way, I decided to stop and check it out. It's a regular cab with a stepside bed. I've always loved that look on f-150s so that's what got me to stop really. After talking to the guy a bit, I find out more about it.

89,000 miles
grey cloth interior
5.4 Triton
4x4
custom chrome wheels wrapped with large tires. I didn't get the size of either, but something slightly bigger than stock, I assume.

So I asked how much he wanted for it expecting him to say anything from 8 to 10 grand. He came out and said $6,000. I don't have much experience with the 5.4s and that's really the only thing keeping me from going to the bank.

What do you guys think about it?

If it was around me it would be sold to me right now! One thing to think about with that truck is that it is going to have NPI heads on it as well as NPI intake. IMO, PI swap would be a must!

Actually, it is pretty close to you if your location is correct. It's up between Leoma and Loretto on 43.

What kind of HP/TQ numbers did these trucks have?

I found 260 HP, not sure on the torque. I beleive it's in the 350 lb ft range though. Honestly, they are better than the Dodge engines of the time, and worse than the Chevy's, but you wouldn't notice it in day to day hauling. I also came up with a private party price of 6k, so I guess he is being very fair.

Interesting stuff. I wish I would have seen it before I went in on a motorcycle.

jfor, I'm going back down that way tomorrow so I'll try to snap some pictures. The undercarriage was pretty clean considering it's four wheel drive and the area it's in is full of fun mudholes and whatnot. The guy said that it was his DD when he originally bought it but now he just uses it to pull his boat to the river.

But anyway, I'll try to get some pictures up tomorrow.

If i was you I would snap it up in a heartbeat. Take it for a test drive and you'll be hooked on it. That seems to be a very good deal for the truck.

if its in your budget, buy it. the 5.4 is a very very reliable motor with plenty of USABLE power/torque. my truck has 130 000kms on it (81250miles) and she purrs like a kitten. my truck gets abused, sees lot of offroading time, hill climbs, LOTS of heavy hauling, and it takes it all in stride. ps, if it doesnt have a LSD get one of those too. all ford trucks are superior to anything else period.

I've seen Shane's truck go over 115, verified by me following him. Waaay faster than any 4x4 has a right to. But stock gear's an 35's make nice looking trucks, that can acheive bonneville like speeds, lol
