What would you put 185's on then b/c this is the second post Ive seen where you said 185 AFR's are "to small" for something? The AFR 185's are a pretty aggressive flowing head. they come gasket port matched from the factory. 185's are to big for a 302, for a 331 stroker or a 351 they are a great fit. If it was a stroked 351 a bigger head like the 205 would be better.

We've been through this man in that thread where JR, Paul, and quite a few others got involved in the technical discussion over heads. If you want great USEABLE and driveable power, a larger set of heads with smaller not extremely aggressive cam will seriously impress over the smaller heads/larger cam combination. I've seen 185's on a stock bottom end car. They aren't that big.

The 205 head would work too, the only downfall is to take advantage of the 205 your gonna need a 331 that can rev higher than 6250.

Obviously with a boss block he can.

I would def run a 205 with boost.

The only "small" stroker I know running a set of 205s is my friend Justin. However, he's got a PT91 and the car makes 933 rwhp on his 347. I think the 185s would be just fine. :)

When building an engine your never going to satisfy everyone (not that that is that my intention) but the head selection debate does spark my curiosity. Think ill shoot Jim an email and see what he suggests. Thanks for the positive remarks everyone and also for the input.

That is what my buddy with the 93 GT I showed you runs.

R block 331, AFR 205's and a YSi.

Car makes 700 on pump gas..

It wasn't intended to put down on your combo, because either way that will be a stout setup regardless. I was just suggesting you may take into consideration a larger set of heads, thats all.

hell in that case just throw 225's on everything then. Ive talked w/ cam guys and port work guys regarding the AFR 185's and they are not a "Small" head. But who cares what the experts say that deal with this stuff every day.

Its not the only way to do things. Just because they choose to run a combo a certain way, just changing small things per the person, doesn't mean that is the only way to make good power. Everyone told the guy who put 205s and a stock cam on his stock shortblock windsor that it would be a dog down load. He made 350/360 to the wheels. JR has a link.

185's would work real good on that 331! I wouldn't go any bigger unless you intend to use the car for all or mostly racing...
