Back in March, I ordered a set of American Racing 18x9/18x10 wheels for my GT, they finally came in, had them mounted and thought they looked pretty good. After some time, I wasnt really liking the stance of the front wheels, something wasnt right, but I couldnt put my finger on it. I thought maybe it was because I went under the recommended tire size, and had a 255 instead of a 265, and I've been doing lots of research the last few weeks scoping out other rides with 18's.
Yesterday, someone on the forum jokingly asked me "are your rear wheels on the front of your car?", and I thought it was funny because for a while now Ive been not diggin the look of my front wheels. SO, out of curiosity, I finally grabbed the tape measure and went outside...

Come to find...

MY FRONT WHEELS ARE ALSO 18x10. (later found out this was not true... BUT!...)

...

wtf.

Its something that never crossed my mind as a possibility since I know what I THOUGHT I ordered. But now I know... SO, I talked to the dude at work, told him about it, and he's hopefully going to be able to get me two new wheels in the right size...

Does anyone know FO SHO if 275/35's will fit on the FRONT 18x9 wheel without any problem? I'm thinking of moving those 275's in the rear up front, and getting the 295's for the rear.

bah, such an interesting monday.

I run a 275/35/18 in the front with no problem, on a 18" wheel. you should be fine, just dont lower it more than 1.5" or so.... it will rub... trust me.

I have the Eibach Pro Kit, its actually still "high" in the front. I didnt slam it since its my DD. And you mean rub on full turn, right? Not in general?

Re: A short story about my wheels...

most aftermarket wheels say the wheel size on the back of one of the spokes. Did you measure all four wheels? I'd think that the backspacing on the 18x10 would make them stick out considerably more than what your sig shows.

I didnt remove the wheel to check, just used the thing off the tire balancer to measure them while they were on the car. All 4 wheels are the same width, 10". I'll probably pull one off to double check then.

Cool. But will they "match" so to speak with a 295/35 on the rear 18x10?

in your sig it looks like your front wheel has a bigger lip than your rear wheel, but might just be the pic

Re: A short story about my wheels...

Well, I went out just now and pulled the drive side front and rear wheel. At first, to my surprise, my front wheel with the 255/35/18 Tire was stamped on the back... 18x9. Weird, very weird. I'm a feeling a little dumb at this point.

I pulled the back, the rear wheel with the 275/35/18 tire is stamped...18x9, now I'm kind of pissed...

I think thats the pic. The lips are the same... see my above post.. looks like even though I was wrong about them all being 18x10, someone still fucked up. While maybe I didnt notice, I also trusted people to just do their job and order the right stuff ya know? I'm no pro on tires and wheels..

haha, no it was good that another person made a comment, it finally made me go look.
I'll be talking to the parts guy at work tomorrow and see what we can do. Hopefully something good to make this little problem right.

Re: A short story about my wheels...

a 255 tire on a 9" wheel is a little small isnt it? I wouldnt think anything less than a 265, maybe 275 would look right.

Re: A short story about my wheels...

i bet that a 10 inch wheel would stick 1/4 way out of the wheel well

lol I thought about that, but that would be totally obvious, and its not, they look the same. I got tired pulling the wheels off with the crappy stock jack and no pneumatic.

the 275's on the back of my car look really good on that 9" wheel, the side wall is straight. Maybe the 255 sidewall on that 9" wheel is part of what looks so weird?

Anyone know if this means anything important?

Bead to Bead they are 10" though?

Re: A short story about my wheels...

Yeah, problem is still that I ordered 18x9 and 18x10's. I've got 9's all the way around. So the plan is they will hopefully get me two new 10" wheels. I'm going to put the current rear 275 wheels up front, and get 295/35's for the 10's, should be good. BFG doesnt make the KDW in any size bigger than 295 other than a 335.

Re: A short story about my wheels...

it's because the 9" wide measurement isn't measured in the same way you measured the wheel. if you measure a 10" wheel, it is goign to be a little bit over 11" i believe.
