during my 600 mile drive monday my right rear abs wire made contact with my wheel tearing into it. i thought i had a decent temp fix, cut the wires spliced them back together. but today i was cruising on the hwy in 5th at about 2k when my brakes kicked in on there own, my volts were all over the place i had to keep it on throttle to stay running. my speedo froze and my car finaly died then my steering locked up. along with the brakes becoming very hard to use while the car is dead.

i safely rolled to a side street and stopped, thankfully.

i had to use but connectors on the 2 wires then tapped them then tapped the entire thing to my ebrake cable so it wouldnt happen again.
well right now im thinking of just cutting it if its gonna cause that kinda problem for me.

oh and it acted like it had no power at all for about a minute. like there was no battery hooked up at all. then power came back it started and finished my drive to the store and home without any more problems.

Replace the ABS sensor and wire.

...moving to Suspension.

For now, disconnect the ABS sensor completely, do not leave it ghetto rigged. The ABS module will see the fault and disable the system completely and leave the ABS light on. Having consistently no ABS is far better than random ABS pulsations/actuations.

Then do as Paul said. You should be able to score one pretty easily. I may even have one, I'll send you a PM if I do.

that's the idea. it's a magnetic-pickup. so even the very small difference in resistance between what the copper wire would have where it broke and the butt splice is throwing the entire signal off. sometimes even some metal/gunk buildup on the sensor is enough to drive them crazy

^^ i was hoping it was just a bunch of crap on the sensor its self when i found the wire.

o well i didnt realize that the system was that sesitive to change ie the butt connector.
