Hi guys,

I'm about to add some parts to my '94 GT in a few weeks, and had a few questions.

Has anyone used the 1.7 Cobra rockers with an E-cam and stock heads? Any clearance issues? I would assume not since the lift would be simillar to an F-cam with 1.6's...

Also, I am adding an original '94 Cobra intake/65mm T/B, any surprises I might encounter when changing over from my stock intake? upon first inspection they seem to be virtually identical when it comes to vacuum lines and what not.

Also, I'm considering going BACK to tailpipes... yes the drone of dumps has taken its toll on me... Has anyone ran MAC shorties, summit H-pipe, SINGLE chamber flowmasters and tailpipes? I'm very curious of the sound it will make. I love driving my car more often now since it's not my daily driver anymore and I just cant stand the drone any longer.

Also, what is the best header gasket to get?

I am also changing the clutch/flywheel too. I am adding a Spec stage 2, quadrant, firewall aduster and adjustable cable... Thinking about going with an aluminum flywheel

Only thing I am waiting on now is to send my Pro-M MAF out to get recalibrated for 24# injectors...

Thanks!

OH!! EDIT!! Can I use the stock brake hoses with a set of PBR calipers or must I buy hoses from an '01 and up car????

With the Cobra intake you cant run your stock strut tower brace (no big deal) but other then that its all the same as the GT intake other then the fact it will give you some more HP

good move  The Cobra intake is sweet, the Explorer intake looks like a a big pile of crap sitting on top of your engine

I have a 95R engine in mine ( 255 Engines were made out of 250 production cars, long story on how it got into mine) and even mine didnt have the 5.8L plaque on it. There was one made up for it but it was not an original 95R upper.

lot of people running the 1.7s and e cam on stock heads with no problems, but its always to check. as far as the intake i dont think you'll run into anything as long as you're using ur stock valve covers. I've got mac shorties mac o/r h-pipe and flowmaster 2 chambers. the 2 chambers are plenty loud, I think 1 chambers are going to be too loud for most people, unless u just like being heard 3 miles before u get somewhere. I've always used a Mr. Gasket header gasket from AutoZone/Advance, pretty good luck, only time i've burned one is when a bolt backed out. u'll notice a little difference with a lighter flywheel, u'll gain horsepower, but you're going to lose some low end torque.

You're most likely going to have valve float if you're using your original stock valve springs

Should be no problem, just make sure you set your TPS correctly.

Tired of drone, get rid of chambered mufflers and get a straight through muffler like Magnaflow/Dynomax/Bassani.

Mr. Gasket Ultra-Seal. Autozone and Advance Auto sells them

I would replace the brake hoses regardless. Do the job 100%

Go with some stainless steel brake lines and read up on the adjustable clutch cable. A lot of people will tell you to stick to OEM. You can find a OEM cable on buyfordracing.com for around $40. Most dealerships will want around $100

I actually have some good valvesprings that are good up to like 550 lift or something like that. They are a dual spring valvespring. Forgot to mention that.

I've heard that a lot of people dont like the aftermarkets cables as well. I'm willing to try the one I have... if I dont like it I'll get a new ford unit.

I'm still debating on the flywheel or not. I guess if I dont like it I could always take it back out.

My friend has single chamber flowmasters on his '89 with a 347 and it just sounds unlike any mustang I've ever heard... I love it. I have some magnaflows laying around I could try too I guess before I weld the flowtubes on to either of the mufflers...

I had Magnaflows with an x-pipe on my car and I ditched it for a set of 2 chamber flows (non-deltaflow) and a Prochamber.

Some people claim you lose a few HP going to a chambered muffler instead of a straight through but I'll give up 5 HP for a sound I like. :icon_rr:

Oh... didnt know they were the same. Well this one has an original part sticker on in like a stock part... So I assumed it was a Cobra unit. No ford racing or SVO/SVT badging. either way, it says 65mm right on it...

The only Cobra that came with a 65mm TB is the 1993 Cobra. :icon_rr:

Thanks, I'll be using the Cobra valve covers that came with the intake...

I wish I could afford to buy the GT40's they came off of too... that would be nice. I'd be a little scared to put heads on a bottom end with 229k LOL!

I'm pretty excited about getting this car together... just put my nice bullitt pedals in it, put a power seat track in it that ACTUALLY works! (3rd one thats been in the car!)

Getting ready to put a new drivers rear view mirror on it, passenger Mach460 door speaker to replace the blown one... uhh... replace the resistor by the coil to get rid of the stereo buzzing (I HOPE!!) then I still have to send off my Pro-M MAF to get it calibrated... then its time to throw on all the mods...

Oh, by the way... MustangMoser... I'd LOVE to see that '73 you have.. my favorite bodystyle... next to a Mustang II of course ;)
