A PI 4.6 will see a little gain. I have personal experience with this and the car did pull a LITTLE bit more but that was also after a CAI. The 4.6 inlet pipe has a bend where it necks down to like 2"!

I'd remove your air silencer no matter what but I doubt you'll see much of a gain with the E7 heads/HO intake being the junk they are.

To be honest, I did not post this to look into getting any HP gains though! I thought it might make it sound a little better is all. I think I heard that it will. I just do not know where, and if, I heard this. I thought I would see if it was possible 1st. Thanks!!

ryclef, would it be the same instructions?

absolutely.

pop it open like your changing the filter, remove the one 8 or 7mm bolt holding the filter box to the inner fender. Once that is out, pull straight up on the filter box. There is a rubber boot attached to the box. That is the silencer. Remove and junk it. install is reverse of removal.

Or sell it to some kid who thinks that it is a complete necessity. :coolsmiley:

Or hold on to it til our cars our considered classics and everyone is trying to restore it to original. There's, from what I hear, quite a bit of money you can get from holding misc. parts that you never think anyone will ever want. I'm hearing alot about it from my automotive professor who is helping his friend with a '57(i think) corvette trying to bring it back to original condition for shows where every part has to be correct for that model and year. This guy, my professor's friend, willing to buy heads for $1,000 that were basically junk...now i'm not saying your gonna get $1,000 for keeping the silencer, but i wouldn't doubt maybe $20 or so, depends if thats worth keeping to you or not. I understand many of you will think its not worth it, but this is good to keep in mind for other stuff, say, smog equipment? stock headers? stock heads? If there is nothing wrong with them and you have the patience/storage, you may be able to make a decent amount of money off these parts that we usually just junk. :coolsmiley:

Yeah, I keep/label all of my stock crap. I even keep the bolts seperate and marked. It's not a bad idea.

I will never get rid of my car though! When the engine blows, I'll just buy a new motor! I keep just about all of my stock pieces, too! I am going to mount them on my take/off wall though! I impulsively chunked my stock springs! I'm so mad at myself! We had just moved and I was not thinking too clearly! Not like I ever do though!

Forgot to mention, I have a CAI and it doesn't sound cool it sounds annoying.

Not bad if you have loud exhaust though.
