Alternator took a shit on me

So it did it, just as I left the house yesterday the light came on permanently. However the battery wont die. The gauge stays right in between N and O on "NORMAL" and the car has ran for 30min on straight battery. If the alternator was bad wouldn't the car die within minutes?

No it will run quite a long time...until the battery is depleted to a lower voltage...I ran mine once for 80 miles at a stretch, pulled into a service station got a quick charge & made it home 160 miles.

Yea they can get you quite far on battery life

If it is bad, get it rebuilt, it's better and cheaper. My alternator took a crap on me, I went from a stock 115amp to a 185amp for much less than a new piece...

Well I went to a salvage yard and got a Alternator for $27 car runs great now, except the pulley has 7 grooves instead of 5, eh the stock belt fit fine in between the 2 extra grooves

Swap the pulleys.....
