I bought a shortblock off the corral forums the guy had a perfect feedback rating and he said the shortblock had 1500 miles, well my engine is at the machine shop and they are saying that the rod bearings are showing signs of material wear? Is this possible after 1500 miles? I know the guy that sold it to me could've been lying about the mileage but I am not sure. Is it typical to show signs of wear in the rod bearings, not quite scoring just light sracthes? They are charging me 330 for the bearings and 350 to replace them, is that a bad deal? Please let me know what you guys think because either way I fell like I've been ripped off by someone... :angry4: :BangHead: :violent1: :angry7:

Wait... So they charged you $330 just for the bearings, and then another $350 to replace them? thats a big rip. How much are the clevites from like summit? and is that to put the motor back together as well? or is that another charge?

detonation will beat the snot out of bearings and also if that motor was getting sprayed

350 for labor is about right considering the short block is getting disassembled then re-assembled.

They are clevete race bearings BTW. Still seems expensive though....

you do not need race bearings... they will not add any power.. i got on summit and for less then 100 shipped you can pick up all the bearings needed to do a full rebuilt... and for another 70 you can go ahead and put new rings in...

the labor is pretty reasonable, but the parts are outrageous... id get regular clevite p bearings.... that is what i have always run with not a single problem....

350 for bearings?are they on coke?maybe that counts pressing the cam bearings out and in.and its hard to say whether the wear is normal without seeing it.a pic would be nice.
