So, I know my FMS driveshaft is rubbing my ebrake cable, I have photographic evidence here

I have this wicked vibration above 80mph and it drives me crazy, hoping someone could tell me what they did to fix their problem? I'm ready to rip that ebrake cable right off, for all I know the driveshaft MIGHT be hitting the tunnel too, but I can't tell.

First thing would be to rotate the shaft through 180 degrees, if its still there its more serious.

If you have taken your D/S off recently and the vibes started after that, then take it off again and rotate it 180* and see if that cures it. If not, its probably you U joints causing the vibes. new joints are cheap so pop the D/S off take it to a shop and have them replaced and the shaft spin balanced.
Both of my cars does that and its beginning to get to me.

just curious, what does the 180 rotation do? If it fixes it, what was the problem, and how did changing orientation by 180 degrees fix it?

I'm thinking its just a slight out of balance issue. Thats why I said to change the orientation on the D/S.

Its probably a long shot though.

If you're running the aluminum driveshaft, you HAVE to get those e-brake cables off of there with the quickness. They will rub gouges into your shaft weakening it in no time...its aluminum, it doesn't take much.

yeah get in there with a grinder and take it down about an 1/8 or so it will clear then. i had the same issue and it was bad. when i get home sunday ill take pics of the old on an post them to show how bad it was. But you probably have a balancing issue cause when i replaced my DS it went away and my old one was fubar'd from rubbing.

What needs to go down 1/8? Sorry I'm pretty dense sometimes, do you mean that little wire holder bracket?

there is a metal lip that the cables run through, just grind it down but not so far as to where your cables are just dangling

I don't know why it works and how but i had vibration on my car too. I have aluminum driveshaft also. I turned it 180 and vibration went away.

Ask others why this is...I didn't care why. It just worked for me :)

so, you unbolt the DS where it meets the rear end only? then rotate 180, then bolt it back? Or do you have to take it off of the trans too?

yea just unbolt it from the rear end and seperate them and take the e brake off and rotate the wheels till the yoke turns 180* and then bolt it back up.
