antifreeze leaking around radiator cap

Ok so when crank my car up to let it warm up , it allways leaks from the radiator cap the hose from the radiator is not
clogged nor is the nipple on the radiator and I just got the cap from autozone a few months back could that be the prob or somthing else
anyone ever had this happen ? thanks alot guys

I would change the cap, worth the 10 bucks. I always get the kind with the pressure relief on them. It has come in handy.

Your coolant is probably boiling. Get a antifreeze boil/freeze tester and see if you need to flush your coolant or not.

but it could be boiling because the cap isn't holding pressure. the pressure raises the boiling temperature of the coolant.

what could cause that aside from the cap I had to replace my timing chain cover a few months back and put all new antifreeze in

If it's not leaking out of the reservoir line it's more than likely the cap.

but most part stores will allow you to borrow a pressure test to pressurize the system and see if you have any leaks sprout up.

can anyone tell me if the cap on the antifreeze overflow is suposed to be sealed or just pop on mine just pops on loosely

There is a cap on the reservoir but it is just a pop top, Granted mine is tight but its not the same kind of cap that the radiator it self has because it doesn't hold pressure like the radiator does just for extra =]
