So apparently a set of Sumitomo 315/35/17's are worthless on a 700+ rwhp AC Shelby Cobra. which is a good thing for me, because i picked those tires up with only 200 miles on them for $70! just wondering what you guy's thoughts were on the Sumitomo brand? i figured for $70, and a set of 315's, it was worth it. Bought them from a local guy here in Virginia Beach, he had the Cobra and also a Z06, they were pure drool worthy, but yeah... he sold me the 315's for $70, now i just gotta pick up a set of 10" wide Satin '03 Cobra rims... I'd appreciate it if you guys would chime in and lemme know what you think about that brand of tires...

Yeah, little bit on the noisy side, but for the price, I'm not expecting much outta them... Traction was a little less desirable, I couldn't ever really get them to hook with my npi slug

Alot of people I know have run sumi's with no problems other that treadwear.. they are not a tire for a high horsepower car though. BFG Dr's are the bets bang for the buck especially with alot of hp.. I just order some sumis for my car but its a street car.

And fyi they do hook on a lower powered car, a bunch of friends have cut between 1.9-2.4s on them.. so they arent to bad off the line.

American muscle has nitto for a real good price.. i would spend the extra 100 bucks on a full set of those in a heartbeat great tires in both dry and wet conditions..

On my 94 GT they hook real well..(not a lot of power) are decent in the rain which I try never to do ...but I do live in Oregon! Pretty much any 315 tire can hydroplane in the wet at even low speeds, I have several Roush buddies that have totaled their cars out due to this...I can't hear any road noise due to the nice tone from the Magnapacks..hehe so I don't know

They look so killer that any cons are not a problem for me...I expect 25K to 30K miles but I only paid $108 per tire.

i run 'em... they're great for the money, but if you plan on being able to catch traction, invest in a better set.

can't beat two 315's for $70!

only Vaginas buy Sumitomos.

Just get some 555s

Sumitomos and Nitto 555's suck asshole. i have never met a person like either. i have 555's on my GT now and they suck. my sister has them on her GT and they suck. my roomate has them on his V6 and he can't get traction and he has 285s. i would only use them if they were given to me for free, which they basically were.

The rating of that tire are high and ive never had a problem.. I went from gforce to the 555s and it was barely a difference.. To tell you the truth this is a first to hear something bad about 555s.. I cant find anything better for the price or even for 30-50 dollar more..

I think you are the first person I have seen that has said that about 555's.

For $70 i'd ride on them. It depends on what you're priorities are too. They last for a long time compared to most of the 315s we put on our cars and thats a good thing, especially if you get 18s. :santa_undecided:

i have 275s and can break loose in 3rd gear, this is in my slow ass non-pi. they make so much road noise it is crazy.. escpecially compared to the michelin pilot sports i have on the FR500's, they are complete shit. maybe why you don't hear bad things about them is because people don't really now what a good tire is. and the nittos aren't great in the rain either. i will be getting some BFG KDW2s next because i have driven a few cars with those and they are much quieter and better in the rain.

i have had 2 sets of 555's on my GT. I have used them in AutoX and Road race Track days and they work wonderfull. They work great on the street to and the tread lasts pretty long for a Performance tire. when there 555s wear out, i will be going with 555s again
