This one happened today. Is it just me? Or has anybody else had horrible luck with any BBK products? This is my conversation with BBK; :angry7:

Hello,

I am now again a victim of manufacture failure. This one happened to me on
my personal car out of town, leading to a nice towing bill this past
weekend. I do not know why I continue to have these problems ONLY with BBK
products, but this is getting quite old. Please advise how we are going to
get a replacement sent, as my car is sitting out of state.

Sincerely,

Alex

Their response;

Sorry to see that the unit you have there is broken. Unfortunately, that unit is one of the ones that we used to make for Edelbrock to their specs many years ago.

Since then, we have revamped all of the tooling and the materials to our own specs and I can honestly say that the quality is 100% improved. Again, the unit that you have there was made to Edelbrock standards that we had little control over back then.

If you can provide a copy of the invoice for that throttle body, we can look into offering you a discount on a new unit that will have a 1 year warranty against defects.

WTF? :angry4: :BangHead: :bs:

I've never had a problem with BBK so either your bad at this or you have been very unlucky.

Wow what great customer sevice :angry7: I'll make sure to stay away from their products. Maybe if you call them and make a huge deal about it you may get alittle more from them. If it was made for edelbrock and it was up to their "standards" why would they stamp thier logo on it... :bs:

That's BS. Makes me want to forget about those BBK lt's I want.

And thats after this conversation;

Hello everyone,

I'm writing today in frustration after many years of satisfied products and
service from BBK. I recently purchased an adjustable clutch quadrant and
cable, and had the cable snapped on me 4 days after I installed it. I called
BBK direct the day after and was told I would not be given a refund or an
exchange, and was "out of luck". The same answer was given to me after I
called regarding my brand new x-pipe would not seal, and I spent hundreds of
dollars having a muffler shop attempt to get it to seal. I still to this day
have a leak. On my headers, they were not completely sealed when welded and
also leaked. Everyone in the mustang world knows how difficult and time
consuming to install long tube headers on a 4 valve modular engine in a
mustang. After a 9 hour install, they had to be taken off, and re-welded on
the flange and the whole 9 hour process was started over again. This is only
a handful of problems I have delt with in the past few years.

I understand every car is different, and there has to be some lenience with
the outcome. But with every car I do an install on, it seems to be worse. I
have many customers and personal friends that I GREATLY recommend your
products to when I work on their cars, but now it seems like I might need to
go somewhere else for my needs. I have spent tens of thousands of dollars
over the years for genuine BBK products, and now I don't know why I did. I
run your decals all over my road race car and have everything legal that you
offer on the car. Every single mustang I own has quite a few BBK products.
After a slight problem with an install with SLP exhaust, they quickly send
out a replacement, and a pre-paid return label FREE OF CHARGE. - This is
the kind of service I appreciate even after a few orders and the type of
economy we are set into.

I wish for us to continue a great business relationship in the future, but
I'm afraid if this does not get resolved, I personally cannot risk loosing
customers over a reputable company like yours not taking care of the
important type of customers like me in this type of economy. Thank you for
your time and response back.

Do you guys really expect a company to warranty their products indefinitely? C'mon, really?

Oh, and I've had no problems with my BBK stuff.

Oh, and I've had no problems with my BBK stuff.

I am currently running (2) internationally known companies very well known in the automotive/racing industry. Yes, we have updated tooling pieces to control labor costs or to update over
the years, but in any case if we manufactured a product that failed to meet
our standards, we would replace the item with an updated piece free of
charge to satisfy our customer and protect the value of our name in the
automotive industry. Word of mouth is HUGE in this industry, with group
meets, web sites, forums, etc. and I have personally seen the effects of
negative feedback on a single company. I am not trying personally to hurt BBK, but rather im trying to gather opinions from everyone on what I should do.

Did you purchase this new? If so from Edelbrock or BBK?
Its obvious it was made for Edelbrock by BBK and you should be contacting them and not BBK.

I've had my BBK 75mm TB on for many years with no issue.

Well, if you want my opinion, but a new one and forget about it. It's not worth getting worked up for a couple hundred bucks and a really old part.

While I understand that word of mouth is important, I think it's unreasonable to assume a company should warrant their products from breakage indefinitely. Especially given the retarded masses who break stuff because of inappropriate install all the time.

You said that you use ALOT of BBK products. So, out of all the pieces you have or bought; how many were defective or went bad?

I know all installs were per BBK instruction, I have been installing on mustangs for 12 yrs.

(4) Clutch Cables- snapped.- Went back to stock- no probs.
(1) 4V LT's - Leak - weld on collector not completed
(4) X pipes. leak on coll. flange & mid. pipe flange. - Bassani- No probs.
(1) Throttle body- throttle shaft broken
(2) Control arms- Cracks after 1 month. Stock HP.

If you had the part a long time and its out of warranty what do you expect? As stated in the e-mail they were made for edelbrock for "their specs". Not saying anything bad about BBK or Edelbrock. I have that same TB and have had no issues w/ it.

I do think it's unreasonable for a company to warrant their products indefinitely, but in this case an exception should be made. How many times have you heard of a broken TB? It seems to me that the failure was a direct result of the poor quality piece -- which BBK themselves admitted!!

4 Clutch cables? After my first aftermarket one(granetelli...) I went to the OEM Ford one with stock quadrant and have had NO issues at all. As for BBK parts, I just ordered I few parts for my new engine build, Let's hope I have better luck than you. Sucks that had to happen, but HOW does that happen? What were you doing, just cruising on the highway?

Yep.. no hard shifting- just light shifting.. in/out of parking lots..etc. Ive learned my lesson.. and the stock cable/ steeda quadrant has been great for 2 years.
