Anyone ever had this happen?

Every single bolt holding my ring gear on came out and because of this, i blew my rear. Does this sound funny? anything like this ever happen before?

I have seen them brake off, but not back out. But anything is possable. Did you install or have gears installed recently?

i had 4.10s put in about 2 years ago. but i havent touched it since. other than normal maintainence

Mine did the same thing except I only had about three come out. Looked like someone shot up my cover with a .22

Ill get the pics when i pull the rear out... i have all the bolts in a bag as a souvenir. It made a quick grinding, a loud pop and then stopped moving forward. So when i pulled the diff cover off after being towed to my work, i looked at it, itall looked good, till i looked at the ring gear and noticed a gap in it. Then i stuck my hand in the rear and grabbed a handfull of bolts.

Drill the bolts and safety wire them....

i will when the new rear goes in... but like i said, i need to find a new 8.8. lol i already have 3.73s lined up. Thank god im a mechanic and dont have to pay labor or storage fees... the car has been at the shop for almost a week. the DD is getting some miles though

I got a complete 8.8" out of an 88 GT for $125 here in PA if your interested. Just 1.5 hrs up the turnpike from you. Came from a running / driving car never wrecked.

would my 7.5 axels fit in it so i can keep it 5 lug disk? if so give me like a week and ill come get it. i know there is a difference in width but its not much, is the mounting points the same too? i dont want to go older if i have to buy alot of shit to put it in

Was Locktite used? The bolts should not back out if torqued correctly and Locktite is used......
