I have been waiting to do the suspension on my car for some time. While I wanted to drop it I didn't want to tear off the side exhaust skirts so after some time thinking about it I decided air-ride would probably be the best option(not for my checkbook but for the car). I found Ride-Tech after some a short search and was a little suprised to see they sell a kit made for the snive platform and like the way it looks. I have never done air-ride before and the only time I have really dealt with it, it wasn't the best thing thinking back of the lincolns that like to use them and how they failed. My neighbor has a Cherry mark VIII that has been sitting for some time because the air ride wore out and he doesn't want to pay to fix it. Anyone ever used ride-tech or have much experience with air-ride? How long can I really expect for the parts to last? I assume the rubber on the bags would be the first to go but any idea how long that would last? I am asking because I am plannin on keepin the car for a very very very long time which is why I can justify the price as long as it isn't a crap load of trouble down the road. I am only 45 mins south of the manf facility and office of ride-tech so if I would ever need parts it shouldn't be too long of a wait.

Here is the kit I am looking at

Be happy to post pics and tell ya all about it in case anyone else is interested in it.

Most aftermarket systems seem to hold up much better than Ford's systems of the 90's. My expedition's air ride crapped out on me causing me to trade it in but i wouldn't hesitate on an aftermarket system at all.

I would not even consider it if they were not better then those. I was just mentioning them becaus that is the only experience I had with them. Reading up on their warranties and such they do trade-ins when they come out with new stuff and its seems like a stand-up company.

Ride tech isn't a new company so I'd trust them if you think airride is for you.

if u have any questions concerning air ride i am def the most experienced at this than any member on here, i know the sn's have little to no travel towards the dirt with this ride tech kit! but if your not looking to tuck tire but just to set it low and lift when u drive. great idea!

no what I was thinking is setting #2 would be for driving, #1 slammed for shows and #3 the high-water option. #2 will probably be raked a little as I think it would look good with the side exhaust and deep dish wheels.

Also though I do have a couple of questions.... How loud is the compressor? Too loud to not put it in the trunk or could it be in the passenger compartment and not be a PIA? Is it ok to have the compressor mounted away from the tank? I would assume as long as the line doesn't get pinched it should not be a big deal. Because of all the extra wiring I have ran in the car and with more to come with the stereo I am going to install/wire the tank/compressor and the display and let them do the rest under the car. I don't have the tools/equipment nor the time/location to do the work outside the car so they will be doing that. I am also not sure if I want to do the automatic leveling system but I am leaning towards it. I am designing the stereo so that I can pull it out easily/quickly for track days and it would be nice for it to keep the same ride height with the weight pulled out.

well ur compressor will def be noisy and will vibrate pretty radically in the interior especially! u can mount it away from the tank however because once ur compressor has filled ur tank the back pressure back to the compresser remains the same no matter the length of the line. one thing i noticed about the kit ur lookin at is their didnt seem to be a water trap. this is the most overlooked component to an air ride kit! assuming all fittings and valves will be brass, condensation will def build in ur tank and spread rusty water all through ur lines. causing ur valves to either stay open or shut. u can pick one up at any hardware store along with some fittings u may need, also some line too. what size line? 3/8 or 1/2" ?

programable and digitable settings are great btw! air ride does make great kits! the shockwaves are nice. easy install. the biggest issue i've ever had with installing them is they tend to rub along the bottom of the sleeve against the strut! this can fuck ur shit up, lol! a hole in ur bag is no good, lol!

Thanks for the info tony. I think it comes standars with 3/8" lines and you can upgrade to bigger valves and 1/2" line for larger application. Water trap - I will try to remember to ask about that tomorrow. Gonna need to find a place for the compressor then if its not happy inside. I have a couple of ideas but will need to measure to make sure it will fit.

For the display I am going to try and mount an explorer overhead consol in it and flush mount the display in that. Should look perty cool as long as there is a place to mount it after taking out the headliner. The more I think about it the more I get excited about it, should be cool.

nah I don't see myself being that guy at stop lights doing it just for fun or attention. It really is just for the utility of it all for me and I don't want to wear the stuff out. Besides that since the HCI install it gets enough attention now at lights now with the lope but now with the stance finally right should not take anything away from it.

its a haul all the way across town but as long as I am feeling well tomorrow I am hittin the bank and headin over. Might take a little while to get it all in since I will be mounting the tank/compressor and probably the valves as well as flushing the display in before I let them under the car. They are also installing sub frame connectors, my AFR bung and I just found a front strut tower brace too on craigs list too. Should improve the ride and the look.

I will post pics when I get them.

If I can ever upload pics to my cardomain site again I will........

Kinda wondering if I should try to hit them up for some kind of discount for sponsoship for the publicity. I mean I am the first person on this site that I know that got it seems like they would want it shown off. I have also been wondering if I could get some sponsors now as I will have it in a magazine er two someday, the cardomain page already has 82k views
