That's a great deal. If it checks out it would be well worth having shipped. I still have mine but I'm going to keep it. If my T56 craps out I can stick it back in while I get the T56 rebuilt. Might want to check ebay though. That's where I found my T56. If you do find one call the seller. You can get a much better read on someone over the phone then the internet and possibly a better deal also (remember, people are much more lenient speaking over the phone or in person then through emails ). That's what I did and my seller was great. He gave me a 30 day warranty and included shipping in the price. He even called after the 30 days and made sure it was ok if he deposited the money.
Still have mine, but it's going back innext week. The 3550 has a horrible 5th gear whine. Getting louder in 4th and starting to whine in 3rd. And got to rebuild the traction lock for the 3rd time in 2 years.
Speaking of trannys, I have a stupid question. I bought a 98 Cobra with the stock transmission. Which one came stock in the car? Thanks.
Yeah. I will also be swapping mine out--maybe before it goes if the clutch goes first. I will be getting a MMR Pro Trans 900 (modified TKO 600).
The T45 is made by Tremec. Treme3c bought out Borg Warner in mid 1996. They didn't make any changes to the design until 98 when they upgraded the reverse lockout.
t45s are crap! they are a tremec transmission but they are terrible. they are a borg warner transmission, but tremec bought them out, so tremec's name is on the trans. and no, there is no difference between a gt and cobra t45. they are all equally pieces of crap
I bought a T45 off of ebay that was said to come out of a stock 98 cobra, it says borg warner right on it though :dunno: did i get stiffed and will this tranny still work in my 96 Cobra? TIA........
yup same transmission. the casing is just labeled differently. tremec bought out borg warner. it will bolt right up to your 96
Thanks for the reply Badass.....thats a relief Also anyone know of a good "how to" on a tranny or clutch install on the web? Thanks!!!
