i still have the stock engine mounts on the car. yes 14 y.o. mounts and i want to swap them for new poly mounts. I've just never changed engine mounts before. anyone have a write up/how to or a link to a one? i would like for it to go smooth, or without me ******* it up. also since the engine has all the front acc and brackets, exhaust off, and a/c, and smog taken out it seems easier to get to.

Thanks
joe

Swapping the engine mounts it a pretty easy job. You will need something to lift the motor with; preferably an engine hoist. However, I guess you could use a jack from the bottom-side of the engine if you do not have a hoist. You will need to remove the motor mount nuts common to the K-member first (one on each side). Then remove the tranny mount bolts (2 of them) to allow the motor to move around easier. Support the engine with a jack or engine hoist and remove the (2) motor mount bolts common to the engine block on each side. Lift the motor until you can remove the old motor mounts from inbetween the motor and the K-member. You may need to wiggle the motor left-to-right to work each side out. Reinstall new mounts using the reverse steps. Hope this helps!!

Lift it around the bellhousing area where it joins the motor. Plenty of strength there. Just be careful not to stretch any wires or jack the motor so high that it hits the firewall or tranny tunnel.

you can ift from the oil pan if you use a block of wood between the jack and the pan. I have jacked from my balancer before... although not recommended.

but I was in a hurry
