It will depend on what valve covers you run. If the height of your valve covers force you to run a spacer, its going to be very close. I would say that if you need more than a 3/8" spacer, you will run into problems. 3/8 or less and you might just be touching the hood blanket. Thats best I can tell ya...

It can be done, I run the stock hood with my trickflow track heat intake, I had to modify a few things to run the stock hood, I run a 95 truck block and had it decked and run a spacer and run stock valve covers and had the lower intake decked/ shaved .5 of a inch off to match the decked block,I also took off the stock hood blanket and took off the stock strut tower brace and drop motor mounts , so now the stock hood closes and has a good 1 inch or so of clerance, It just makes it by to close

I did remove the hood liner.. Clearance is minimal but enough to close.. Maybe 1/8 of a inch I closed it with a 1/2" wrench on top of intake but it was tight

I had system max head for a short time on there and it fit with a 1/2" spacer under the stock hood. Hardest part is just finding valve covers that will fit under the intake and not hit the lifters.
