just wondering if anyone here is using the summit catback and might have a sound clip. that will be my first mod when i get the mustang. i talked to my friend and we might be picking it up in the next couple weeks. he says its in really good shape and has not been abused. it was his cousins car who is now selling it, stock still. 1995 gt.

A few guys on the Corral have used it. They say that it isn't anything fancy at all but it works well, fits well and sounds pretty good. Its pretty mellow from what I remember ppl saying...

pretty mellow :( i'm looking at it cause its cheap and i'm a highschooler that can only work during the summers so i need cheap. i guess i could always switch out the mufflers later. i am camming the engine so that will help out the idle a little ;)

what about a mac catback for a v6? there isn't any difference is there? they are cheap on ebay.

V6 kit MIGHT fit but I wouldn't do it. And the cheapest kits I saw were for like $300 plus. And with that stock H pipe on there its gonna be kinda quiet no matter what.

does anyone have any suggestions for a cheap exhaust system? i figured a set of summit headers and used x or h pipe (which one is better for low end torque again?) and maybe the summit exhaust then. thats what i've found to be cheapest

I'd go with that. Its known to fit well and their mufflers do flow right up there with the best of them. I've personally never heard one myself so don't what I take as gospel. Others report a "mellow" sound but that might be compared to some 1 chamber flows or SLPs. My Dynomaxes are pretty mellow until I stomp on it.

the way i see it, if ur a kid in school saving up money and cant afford what you want and have to settle for less, dont bother. IMO do it right the first time and youll appreciat it much more... i can understand if youre trying out differrent setups but itll cost u less in the long run to just get the one u want in the first place instead of buying sumthin that youll end up replacing later...
my two cents...

I say what M_666 says! I bought like 3 things from a company that is not even opened now! I've had to replace everything! From that moment, I buy the very best only for my car! Since I'm on disability, it takes a long time to save up. It's definitely worth it in overall though!!
Now you have four cents, ha-ha!!

Also be aware that aftermarket headers on a set of stock E7 heads are pretty much a waste of money. The E7 heads flow like total ass.

And again, the Summit kits are said to fit very well and sound similar to other straight through mufflers. Mellow at idle with a bark when you stomp on it. My Dynomaxes fit that bill although their "bark" is pretty goddam loud. They're not stainless but neither are the dronemasters that every tom, dick and harry seems to have on their car. What I would do is just order the summit offroad H and the summit catback and leave the stock headers alone. I ran a summit offroad h for a few years and never had any problems with it.

i looked up some exhaust clips and while i didnt find any of a 94-95 mustang with these mufflers i did find a couple others and they do sound a lot like the dynomax turbo mufflers, which i do like a lot. i think i will get the h pipe along with this and install headers when i put the new engine in early this summer.

Just Cut the exhaust off right before the cats thats sure to wake that thing up and the neighbors :hammer:

but nah seriously like said before just save up and get what u really want the first time it might take longer to get the mod done but odds are u are wanting a nice exhaust setup so the wait will be worth it when its all said and done :thumb:

or on another note check local or ask friends someones bound to have somthin used and cheap

If you're just looking for your car to be louder and don't care about emissions I would get an o/r h. you can get one brand new for under $200 and it will make the car a lot louder than a catback will. When I put my mac catback on it was barely louder than stock. I've heard a couple cars with o/r h and stock catback and they sound pretty good. I'll try to find a clip if that's something you're interested it.

I would have to agree save up you money and the right exhaust system the first time! I sometimes think back of all the stupid mistakes I have made from trying to cut a corner by going cheap! Best advise, make it right the FIRST TIME, saves you money in the long run! I wish I could go back and stop myself from going cheap!! :wall:

just my .02

If I were you I would save up for a MAGNAFLOW OR SLP SYSTEM

Don't forget you can buy used stuff too. I put together a full exhaust, LT's, O/R X, and mac dumps, for right around $300.

if you want cheap and loud then get the flowtech kit from summit, they are dumped mufflers, no tail pipes, they are loud even with stock headers and h-pipe and you can uncap them to run straight through, no muffler to be even louder
