So I was driving the car around the other day and as I took off the tranny wouldn't shift from 1st to 2nd until about 5k rpm's the same from 2nd to third. So is the tranny ****ed! or is this somewhat of a common occurrence where it can be corrected easily? someone was telling me about a vacuum line that went to the trans but I couldn't find anything. I also haven't had a chance to check/change the filter but checked the fluid and it looks realitively good but could be time for a change. any help would be greatly appreciated. thank,
Tom

These are not the strongest of boxes, mine folded at only 50 thousand miles most unimpressed.

Holy shiat.

AODE's are actually fairly stout transmissions. FAR superior to the original AOD. A good shift kit and trans cooler and the stock one will handle 400HP.

Change the internals to the one way mechanical diode and a hardened input shaft and you have a trans that will support 500 - 600.

This is according to Performance Automatic.

I now run a performance automatic box. :)

A lot of failures [especially here] are due to exported cars not getting recalled for the swap to mercon V [TSB], that and the fact they sat round most of their lives doing nothing which never does most things mechanical much good.
