If you have a good valve body kit (shift kit) I would say around 350 to 375 horspower.

1998 and newer 4R70W's can handle up to around 500 horsepower with just the addition of a valve body kit.

Nailed it. The 14 roller diode is the main weak link in your AODE

Stub Shaft in an AODE likes to twist with a lot of power too.. :(

One way mechanical diode :eek:ccasion14:

True, and early 4r70ws as well, but the sprag (diode) will most likely go first.

I don't think people even know that you can get a hardened stub/input from Baumann cheap either.

Baumann Electronic Controls - 1998 4R70W Hardened Direct Stub Shaft for AODE/4R70W $25.00

Are you talking a stock AODE or a worked on? You can always consider a C4.

Before considering the C4 though the OP should have a clear vision of what he either wants or expects from the car.

I was wanting to drop a 4r70w from a 99-04 v6, I know it bolts on direclty but I don't know what's all needed...

Would it be worth it?

My power goals right now would be from 400-500rwhp

What's wrong with a C4?

No O/D. That may be very important for a DD vehicle with a highway commute.

Bah. Everyone ran around with no OD for 90 year's. If you're worried about ET, then you can't be worried about MPG. Just life

IDK what transmission valve body you plan on running, but the v6's (or maybe just the later 4R70Ws) have smaller bores on the valve body pins. You might have to drill them out a little bit.

Thats the only difference I noticed between a v8 and v6 trans case.
