Autos are for zee gays.

All depends on what your doing with the car.

Autos rule at the track or just plain out getting a car to accelerate faster if its set up right.

but the manual has the advantage just about everywhere else

I love my auto...but I may switch just because of my ADHD factor and I cant stand not being able to control what gear im in.

I will say that my stalled auto with the power im making is all kinds of fun.

drove a challenger with a sixspeed, it was sweet... easy to shift and had hill assist so there was no rollback taking off on a hill

for me, i'd like a t-56

auto is obviously better if your a commuter to a city center office job...

but for me, a 16 year old who commutes through the massive city of gardner, ks. to pizza hut 3 miles from my house.... manual works just fine!

besides... how much fun is it to push the clutch in at any speed and rev up and the rice bucket next to you?

Wow, Im not feeling the auto love here. I love my auto, no Im not gay, it's just easier to drive in the city. I get better gas mileage than our 5-speed. Also I will never miss a shift if Im going down the 1/4 or autocrossing.

I could be wrong but doesnt a 5spd get noticeably better MPG?

Manual. My first 2 cars were autos, I didnt care until i learned how to drive a 5spd then I hated having an auto. My last car (focus) was a 5spd and my GT is a manual and I will own a manual until I can no longer drive one.

A c4/c6/AOD that is built to hell, is one fun ride. It's consistent acceleration. There is no acceleration, shift, rpm drop. It's just hauling ass 24/7. A manual valve body and a good shifter takes care of any gear problems. It's a matter of preference. Everyone's hard ons for manuals here is a bit much.

No, you're not wrong, he just as a very rare exception that defines that fact that there are much less moving parts and moving mass in a Manual tranny vs. an Auto tranny. If you are comparing a V8 5spd to an auto 4 banger, of course auto will get better, but auto mustang to 5spd mustang? No comparison, the standard will get a noticeable difference, if you are not a lead foot.

I dont understand why people think a built stalled auto is only for a track car or something.

Its overall just better at accelerating a car and when you have some power its awesome.

If you like racing you should like a stalled auto.

But I will admit that I would not want the stalled auto if I wasnt blown and making close to 400 rwhp...

It all depends on what you wanna do with the car. For daily driver duties there is nothing wrong with an auto (especially in stop n go city traffic), for auto cross/road racing/general dicking around nothing is funner then a manual, for more street/strip I'd have to go with an auto.

BTW both my DD and my street/strip/track cars are both manuals. :tongue3:

It's funny when my dad and I go to the track, he is just about the only 9 second car out there that is a stick. Everybody goes with automatics for race cars because

A. They are easier to drive
B. There is less chance for error

But my dad likes the good ol' fashioned way and I greatly enjoy seeing him whoop up on all the auto cars :)

Oh and I would line up against your automatic any day

None of the fastest cars in the world have a viscous coupling.
