Battery Relocation

Hey wanted to know if this is a safe way of relocating the battery to the trunk.
1. Run new red (+) wire from the original location to the trunk
2. Ground original black (-) wire to the engine bay
3. Connect the new and old red (+) wires in engine bay and seal wires with shrinkwrap or electrical tape
4. Ground New black (-) wire to frame from the battery
5. Connect New red (+) wire to battery
Does this sound safe or am i causing a fire here lol

are you putting power on the fusebox right next to the batt as well as the hot wire to the starter? I would just put a ring terinal on the end of the hot wire and slap it on the post on the end of the box with the starter wire.

Ok guys i ran into a BIG issue. The situation is this. So The battery is mounted in the trunk. The positive cable is ran to the back from the original location and the ground wire is grounded to the frame. Now when i go to hook up the battery, without the key being in the ignition, the fuel pump comes on and it stays on. Also the check engine light is on and the abs light is. Again the key is not in the ignition. Once i turn the key those lights go off. I crank the engine but im not gettin spark. I tested the coil to see if i was getting power to the coil and i am but no spark. All the fuses are fine. Like i said the fuel pump stays on and i hear pressure in the rails up front. Now i pulled the fuses in the engine compartment for the fuel pump and it still stays on. The only way it cuts off is when i disconnect the inertia switch. Now i was told it could be a short, or a bad control module. Also if anyone is familar with the harness that is behind the backseat driver side panel that runs to the inertia switch, if u could tell me what that does because that also might be the problem because when i was redoing my interior i disconnected it and now i cant find the connector that goes to that harness. The only electrical i changed was the battery relocation. I didnt splice anything except the positives cable 4 the battery.
If anyone have any input i would greatly appreciate it.

I would disconnect the wires you just attached, and reconnect the OE wiring. That will then tell you if your wiring somehow was backfeeding the circuit or you didnt wire something correctly.

Ok One thing you guys need o remember is if your battery is in the trunk you need to have a battery disconnect if its run at a drag strip, EVER. With this said you need to do your wiring a little different then if your just going to stick it in the back.

I can get a write up on this for you guys if this is really wanted/needed.

I have done this many times
Run A #0 cable from starter to a starter solenoid mounted in trunk next to battery
Use the start signal wire in old location [run to stater and new solenid intrunk]to energize starter and solenoid at same time Run a # 8 wire battery to fuse box for power [make shure to include fusable link 100 amp]
this will prevent a melt down some day in future

well the only wiring that i did was the battery cable. everything else is the same. I even tried connecting the battery back up front and its doing the same thing. So all i can think of is that sumthing is not connected or i have 2 harness switched. Is it possible tht the control module is bad?

Yea thats fine. Just make sure they dont need a sut off and if you dont , then its easy as pie.
