i have been hearing from some people that cai intakes sometimes throw the readings from the mass air flow sensor off due to the bend that it has as it goes into the fenderwall so i took mine off and put my stock one back in and it seems to run better has anybody... run into that?

Yes, I had the BBK with the filter in the fender. Never had a problem, never threw a CEL.

My current CAI is like that also but again the 4.6 is a lot different then the 5.0

I had one, and took it off. I had to add 20% fuel moving from the BBK to the 4" thinwall stainless tubing I used that is a straight shot into the fender.

I think the issue is with over oiling the filter after cleaning. the excess oil sticks to the maf and causes the engine to run like garbage.
