BBK VALVE COVERS

I recently bought a 2001 gt mustang with aluminum BBK valve covers on it. Where can you buy gaskets for them? I tried to remove the driver side cover and can't remove it. Has anyone delt with this situation. I'm not new to mechanic work but I have removed everything but the intake it seems to be restricted by the brake booster even though i know it's another name for it on these cars but . It's hitting on the overhead cam gear also. How the hell did they get them on?

As I said in your other thread, you can loosen the booster for more clearance.

Them BBK valve covers are big! But im simply going to say this......welcome to Ford BIGASS modular motors. In other words, you just about have to remove the engine for any parts removal, besides the intake manifold. Like @07GtS197 stated, loosening the booster will gain a little extra wiggle room.

One down fall of the modular engine is that its big! Its a pain in the ass to perform any work on. Once you accept this pain, youll get along better and simply make plans to remove the engine just to do anything.

As for BBK gaskets,....if my memory serves me....I think your best bet is a nice bead of silicone. The covers are thick, the gasket area is flat and extremely rigid....perfect for simple black rtv silicone. My suggestion is lay the silicone bead, lightly place the cover down on the bead and give it some dry time of like 20min before snugging the bolts down.

its a bit of work what i do is if no room can be made ill undo the motor mounts lifting the engine to remove the motor mounts set the engine down on the cross member to rest with a rubber pad so no damage will be done to the oil pan
should give about 3 to 4 inches on valve cover clearance
