Ive got a buddy with a '00 GT auto with headers, x-pipe, catback, 70mm TB and plenum, and a Vortech V2-S trim with a custom tune from JBA, hese putting down about 370hp and 380 ft pounds, oh, and hese got 3.73's. What would it take to beat him in a 1/8 mile drag race with my 5-speed 5.0 (and dont say N2O 347 stroker or S/C 331 stroker or something ridicules like that) Would it be possible to atleast hand (be within a car length) of him with full exhaust(headers, mid pipe, catback), 3.73's, cool air and a 100 shot of N20? Im guessing that setup would only put down around 330 rwhp but I was able to hand with my other buddy who as essentially the exact same car as the one I want to beat but without the supercharger and with my car bone stock save for a short throw we were .005 seconds of each other, he was pissed to say the least a he had almost 2g's into his. Thanks for the help guys!

To beat or (keep up) with said car on a 100 shot in a 1/8 mile race, you would need some sticky tires, and to do a good bit of weight reduction on your car. Since 60' times are more important in the 1/8 than 1/4, if you could muster a 1.6 60' on the nitrous i think you might have him beat. Just remember that 40 extra hp will have to be negated by your driving and weight reduction, so get practicing :whip:

Why only spray a 100 shot? Get a $150 fuel pump and spray a 150 shot. You will beat him.

What does the dude even run in the 1/8?

He honestly cant run that fast in the 1/8 considering he only has 3.73s and he has a stock stall....1/4 mile you would need some serious shit...1/8, not so much

You might be able to get him with a 100 shot through the 1/8 if you launch the shit out of it...but he will be realing you in the whole track.

He probably runs low 8s in the 1/8th

With sticky's and 100shot sprayed off the line you can beat him in the 8th. His s/c isn't gonna put up any significant boost till about 4300 to 4600 rpm's. Ive never run an 1/8th. What gear do you make it to? Get him off the line, spray the shit outa it. Hope you stay hooked and you got him. 1/4 mile he will drive around you once he has it spooled up.

As long as you get the jump, the torque from the 302 should get you out ahead of him, just make sure you have traction, and spray it..otherwise he will catch up very quickly..

What kit do you have?

Theres no doubt in my mind that you will pull that car off the line...3.73s, auto, stock stall isnt a very effective setup in that auto and the vortech isnt adding any power down low.

However, it will only takes a couple of second for the 4.6 to get into powerband and start moving.

He may blow by you before the 1/8 even with the 100 shot

Race him and find out.

Im planning on picking up a ZEX wet kit, but if theres something better out there in that price range let me know! I believe that he runs a 8.152 and to make a correction he makes 360rwhp and 385lbs tq, in the 8th if I rev my gears out I usually only make it to second, but I shift in the powerband (around 5100 rpm) I barely hit 3rd, but I run a little quicker that way (fastest time with the following mods: Summitomo no-performance tires(atleast there cheap), MSD cap and rotor, MSD 8.5mm Super conductor wires, NGK plugs, K&N air filter and flowmaster catback with a short throw shifter) I pulled a 9.2 at I believe 81 or 85 miles and hour. The not S/C mustang I raced I SMOKED off the line but he would start to drive around me past the 60' and then it was just about how far ahead I had gotten off the line.

If you have the money for it, I would get the Gen X 2 kit also...

The ultimate nitrous system accessory. GenX-2 accessory packs include all the components you need to make your nitrous system dependable and worry free. Kit includes: a Purge Valve, fully automatic bottle heater with pressure transducer, fuel pressure safety switch, liquid filled N2O pressure guage, NHRA approved pressure release fitting, NHRA approved blowdown tube, all the electrical connectors and wire needed to complete the installation.

That kit looks nice, but I liked how the ZEX came with a WOT switch, it doesnt seem like the NX kit does, how much are those seperate and are they necessary, id like to keep my engine so it would be best to get an RPM window and WOT switch, correct? Thats starting to get out of my price range though with the assumption that those 2 components cost about $100-150 each plus the kit which is around $650 with a limit of about $700 :wall: :wall: :crying:

yea, so he is moving pretty good.....good luck, As far as I know you will not knock off anywhere near a full second off your 1/8 with a 100 shot

Well I wasnt planning on just the 100 shot, I was also going to do BBK un-equal headers, BBK high flow x-pipe, Cool air, blaster coil, and ive got a spare battery relocation kit laying around in my garage so all probably throw that in there as well, so i figure with all the above mods all probably be putting down maybe 230 rwhp plus the 100 shot maybe 300? I figure that the 60 HP deficite will be made up by my faster reaction time, better driving, and the fact that im in a 5-speed, well thats what I hope anyway. Possible, or no?

Get the TPS sensor switch. The WOT switch sometimes will move not allowing you to hit the nitrous. Been there done that. :nonono:

Possible..but the race will be won in the 60 foot.

He is at a disadvantage with the stock stall...other than that im sure his car will be faster.
