Hey guys and gals,
I just bought an 02 GT 5-speed with 65,000 miles on it and it is bone stock. The first thing I want to add is a cold air intake. I have a lot of experience with AEM brute force instakes (had one on my 05 F-350 Diesel and 01 Expy 5.4L) My question for y'all is which intake is the best for by 4.6L 2V? Thanks for the help!

Cheap Ebay intake with a K&N filter flows as well as most big names, I just painted mine to match the rest of my underhood and enjoyed the $$ I saved

JLT or remove the silencer from the stock air intake assembly and drop in a K&N...no point in going to a metal intake that in the end gets much hotter then plastic tubing of the stock assembly or the pvc tubing of the JLT

Stock tubing is prob the best you can get, after that the over priced JLT works well. Its really the million dollar debate. The C&L is a nice piece but it heats up and thats not what you want to make power. If you ice it between runs and keep a fan on it, then cool but if not your effed.

I will be running a stock tube on the race car this year.

You can look on the corral someone did a test of a bunch of cold air kits years ago, and the only one that flowed close to stock was the jlt.

save yourself some $ and remove the silencer from your stock and drop a k&n filter in, and put your money towards long tubes and a midpipe or gears

I got an JLT TB tube, which worked great before the (higher than stock) TF elbow and STB, that wasn't there when my 98 was stock. I had to hit the local pep boys for a new connector (tb tube to plenum) so that it didn't intefere. Just a warning if you start adding other components, that you might end up with clearance issues. I did it mostly for looks as I don't care for the waffle design of the stock tube.

I also added an large open air filter, which I felt better SOTP feel than just a K&N drop-in, but can't back that up with numbers. I don't have great pics, but if you're interested in seeing what it looks like, see below....

Idk how the elbow design for the JLT intake is on the New Edge mustangs, but on the SN the fitment sucked so much it kept coming loose and i was pulling in unmeeter'd air which caused my check engine light to come on constantly. I kept the filter and shield on the car and ended up putting the stock intake tube back on and i've been check engine light free ever since. it was coming loose on the end that attached to the throttle body, i'de say it was a fluke but i had a buddy with the exact same problem on his 97. It may not be too common but it was for us, i was never able to keep it attached for more than a week or two. It did look great though, I wish they would have put the rubber coupler elbow instead of trying to curve a pvc pipe and attaching it with a straight coupler.
