I'm looking at getting a set of cams this winter, and just wondering what to get. My car is a DD. My current mods are PI H/C/I, C@L upper intake w/75mm t/b, pullies, shorty headers, x-pipe w/cats, SLP LM 2, 3.73's, aluminum d/s and flywheel, and SCT Xcal 2 tune. I want the max hp I can get without swapping in new valve springs. I was looking at Hitech stg 2's, but it looks like they aren't going to fit without grinding down the valves? So what cams are PI swap people using?

I guess I've been on the fence with changing the valve springs. Thanks guys..

Anybody have experience/knowledge with Modular Headshop cams? I've been reading their website, and looks like some good info their.

i did the head swap with the hitech stage 2's. i got new valve springs tho. if you have the money change them no point in shortcutting it. if not ive been told u dont need to change the springs unless yur turning over 6500 rpms which you probably wont be. i made 298 rwhp 315 tq with stock exhaust manifolds stock air intake with a pp upper plenum and 75mm tb. with mac catback exhaust with bassani catted x pipe. it is also my dd and i have no problems on the street with it. good luck in whichever route you choose its an awesome investment :)

i forgot to mention yes the intake valves have to be machined i sent mine to hitech and they did it for 80 bucks

do you have any pictures of the valves after you got them back? i just ordered a set of those exact cams and the cams will be here before the week is up and i just found out about having to have the valves cut.

how much exactly did they cut off? and did they taper the edge of the valve like the Manley valves?
