best way to remove headlight cover?

i recently bought a pair of the depo black projector lights (i cant find a pic of them right now) and i want to paint the metallic ring around the projector black. whats the easiest way to get the front plastic cover off the light with out breaking anything? and how do i get it back on? just use epoxy or something?
I know a few other members on here have done it and i'm curious as to how they did it.

I say preheat at 250*,use a brick or some wood pieces to rest the headlight on.
leave them in there for 2-4 mins, pull them out and use a wide flat tool to pry it off.

Make sure you use some gloves when you pull them out of the oven.
