Here’s a Google cut & paste:

Yes, when installing an Idle Air Control (IAC) restrictor plate on a 1995 Mustang Cobra 5.0, you should use two gaskets—one on each side of the restrictor plate—to prevent vacuum leaks.
YouTubeYouTube
  • Setup: Position the restrictor plate between the IAC valve and the intake manifold, with a gasket on both sides.
  • Best Practice: Use a new gasket when installing to ensure a proper seal.
  • Orientation: Ensure the smaller hole of the restrictor plate faces the electric motor side of the IAC valve for best results

Swapped in new MSD cap & rotor + Ford Performance 9mm wires with DEI 1800* sleeves. Wire spacers not going on until the intake gets back from hot chemical strip & ceramic coating. All went well until I got to the coil. Coil wire fits great on the distributor cap but doesn’t connect properly onto the coil (Screamin Demon).
How do I remedy this? Many thanks!

you will need to crimp the correct end on it or replace the cable
I still have the 8mm coil wire from the set I’ve just replaced, which is basically brand new “super performance “ (?) set from VatoZone . It works and fits on as it should, but it’s 8mm and the new wires are 9mm, so I’m not sure if that makes a difference???

Take a pair of pliers and crimp the end under the boot a little like Scott said. You won’t hurt anything.

I ended up calling Summit asking if I could swap the male end coil wire for a female. Of course they don’t sell the FP 9mm blue wires separately and I wasn’t keen on plunking down another $70-80 for a second set just to get the coil wire.
Feeling we were at an impasse, I asked, “what’s this extra spark plug wire?” Turns out it’s a coil wire…. just a LONG ASS coil wire. Guessing for setups with a firewall mounted coil. So, I popped it on, fit as it should, and to rid the excess slop wrapped it around the top of the distributor. Kinda hanky I know, but the length made it work pretty much perfectly. Picture o follow.

Sidebar question: saw a YouTube where the guy had a rubber cover that went over the distributor and really cleaned up the wire runs to each bank. Anyone know what it’s called and are they good, bad or “eh” to have??

Just for the future, you can take apart any sparkplug wire or coil wire and swap ends as they are just crimped on

I’d prefer to do that using the shorty coil wire. The way I have it now looks ridiculous. So do I chop the wire off at the boot or Armstrong the boot off and swap the the female end? Will any brand female cap work?

You can slide the boot off and then pry back the crimp on the wire. Little lune on the rubber boot helps it slide on and off. Not a complicated process

To answer your second question, it’s a distributor boot. My 90 Grand Marquis still has the factory boot.

I thought I had a pic but I guess I don’t.

Measured, diced & spliced, crimped and popped into place… an appropriate length coil wire to replace my once innovative wrap around coil wire! ROFLMFAO
