Any recommendations on getting that lower 8mm bolt out of the IAC motor unit? I have 2 spark plug wires running right next to each other directly in front of the bolt.
Would disconnecting the CAI at the TB gain enough access to manipulate those 2 wires out of the way? Or, is it just a matter of marking the 2 spark plug wires’ locations, disconnect them from the distributor and pull them through?

Smarter not harder is the objective;-)

long 1/4 extension with a wobble or swivel on the end. I have done this several times recently when I thought my IAC was bad(it wasnt)

You said you only had 2 cables in the way? just disconnect those two and if you need to mark one with some tape or something.

That’s my plan! I just want to check the routing of the wires to see what’s supposed to go where ;-)

The 302 firing order is 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8 going counterclockwise on the cap. The no 1 spot on the cap is marked. This is the order for all the small blocks except 351W's and the HO302 that uses a Windsor cam. If you have an HO302 or Windosor, the firing order is 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8.

Appreciate that, John. That’ll come in handy if I confuse them when I untangle this mess!
Still looking for a diagram that shows where each wire should correctly route through.
I just remembered: Think I might have a book buried somewhere in all my car stuff that just might help. (fingers crossed). Cup of Joe and off I go!

id assume #3 and 4 cylinder wires are rhe ones they routed under the elbow.
As for correct path there is nothing set in stone. Everyone runs them differently. Just lay them out so they are nice, neat and out of the way of anything you need to get at. Look at some pics of 5.0 motors and youll get the general idea. Some wire kits dont fit as good as others.

Finally got that lower bolt on the IAC motor out. Now I can’t get the forward-most (of the 2 screws) on the TPS out. It wants to strip and it’s on there super tight.

Also, I popped the cap off the distributor and noticed the plate under the rotor looks… wel, check out the picture and let me know if that’s ok/normal or needs replacing?

Does anyone remember if the smaller hole on the gasket goes forward or behind?
