i'm looking to get something better than the stockers.

the regular cobra brakes are nice but i was looking for something a little more. I was set, for the longest time, on getting the 2000 cobra r brembos. but then again there is always the baer brake kits, or the SSBC kits, or the wilwoods, or the saleens, or the alcon roush ones in the classifieds. which one is best? how can one actually measure these?

AM just started selling the wilwoods and they are cheaper than the brembos. they look cooler with the 2 piece rotor and the 6-piston design but are they better?

Do you road course race? Honestly, Cobra brakes are almost overkill in some cases, unless you are auto-xing or road course racing, don't waste the money on 4-6 piston brakes.

Buy whatever costs less. I've got 2000 R Brembo kit used for 550 dollars, and that came with two sets of rotors and race pads. This was my upgrade from cobra stuff. Cobra calipers were just not cutting it at higher speed stuff, such as heavy braking from 125-130mph. Another good upside to using a 2000 R Brembo kit, is that it uses regular Cobra rotors, so replacements are cheap.

Wilwood stuff is super light, and works pretty well too, I know a lot of people who are using them, no complaints so far. I have heard of calipers spreading in some cases, but have not seen any in person, so as far as I'm concerned, that's a myth.

Alcon is good stuff, but pads are extremely expensive, and it's a giant caliper, so clearing a wheel could be an issue. Talk to MadStang, he's got Alcon kit on his Roush.

As long as you have the cobra dual piston front with 13" inch rotors you should be ok for track days. The most important thing is that you have good pads. Im not talking new oem street pads I'm talkin hawk dtc60s. I run this with dtc60s or dtc70s ( this might be overkill but i like to play it safe and have good brakes) it lasts the whole session and can certainly overpower my tires.

enjoy your track day.
