So, I lined up against one of my shipmate's cars the other day, a 1993 Camaro Z28 with the RS body kit...

I held the revs around 2k and tried to step out of the clutch, not slow, but not like sidestepping it either...

Instead of breaking traction or really going for it, the car kinda bogged and then finally got running.

End result- We finish neck and neck, I'm ahead by less than a foot. I've never really launched this car before, I don't really race it, but it was way too close, how do you 5-speed guys launch yours? My mods are in my sig- stock clutch FTW (no slippage)

You need to keep your revs above peak torque level when launching. Its easy to side step and break them loose. To get the best launch you'll need to beat on your clutch a little. I raise my revs to about 4500 and then ease the clutch out quick(but not side stepping or too fast) making sure to throttle it enough to keep the rpms above at least 3500. You'll burn your clutch up quick but it applies power gradually allowing traction and full power usage. I've run 1.85's 60 ft on street tires at the track.

gotta find that sweet spot in the clutch. I find that i launch best by regulating my traction with the clutch instead of throttle...... does the trick on clutch life but it makes a good launch evrytime... by the time the clutch is completly engaged its already time to shift into 2nd...

my buddy with his 700RWHP rx7 launches his car at 7000rpm in second gear.... hahaha INSANE
