Boost issue plot thickens...overboost in 1st, low for the rest

So I haven't been pushing my car hard lately, on account of it needing a new clutch (taking care of that this weekend). I've been lazily dealing with a boost issue (since my shop is like 30-40 miles away, money troubles, and time to take care of it) where it hits about 4-5 PSI and then creeps (with the pulley that's there, it should be about 8 PSI). Combine that with a hanging idle, it was suggested that there may be a problem with the surge valve. So my intention was to get that checked out.

But the other day I was messing around, and instead of hard launching from a stop (knowing my clutch would burn), I slowly accelerated in 1st to about 2k, then punched it...I let go of the gas and shifted when my boost needle read about 14 PSI. In second, 4-5 and climb...same through the rest of the gears.

Consider me thoroughly confused. :BangHead:

I don't know the pulley number/name, but per Procharger, it's supposed to be good for 8 PSI. It's a P1SC.

check which version of that bpv you have. the older ones are none to stick open or close. the newer ones have a hinged actuator plunger vise a swivel actuator plunger.

I will check to see if there is a part number stamped on it someplace I can see without removing it...but it was purchased less than a year ago and looks like the part in the picture from Procharger's website.
